Forums - Gaming - Pokémon Red being ported inside Minecraft by user

- Redditor Magib1 is porting the Game Boy game inside Minecraft

- he is using command blocks in Minecraft to rebuild Pokemon Red in its entirety

- still in early development

- Magib1 said on Reddit:

“This is meant to be a true port of the game, not an adaptation, and is being designed to run on a 10x9 block representation of a Gameboy Color screen,”

- beyond the map and walking animations, Magib1 is creating a built-in Pokedex for the game

- Magib1 explains how it all works:

“There’s a physical representation of the map...in spawn chunks in which each block corresponds with a texture,”

“When the player clicks, a reader armor stand moves and clones the row of new textures behind the display. Display armor stands then detect the block type and stick the corresponding texture on their head before moving. The player model is just swapping between a static walking and standing texture.”

“In order to store easily accessible information I’m also creating a sort of physical database underneath the block map,” Magib1 wrote. “For example, the first layer under the map represents whether the block can be walked on or not (green wool = yes, red wool = no). Separate levels with this type of binary information can be created for doorways, surfable tiles, signs, etc. This cuts down on the command blocks needed, as lag is a very serious concern for the map.”

- Magib1 estimates it will take a few more months to get the core mechanics done

How long before Nintendo takes this down?

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

All the man hours that must have taken, when you can just emulate on every device known to man. XD

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Some people have too much time on their hands.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

That's awesome and all, but I don't really know what the purpose of that's supposed to be..

Simply amazing and a step towards the ultimate goal which is, the farthest land where the word "meta" has to be redefined....I'm talking about playing Minecraft within Minecraft, it will happen someday.

I cannot imagine toilet-free life.

Kebabs have a unique attribute compared to other consumables. To unlock this effect you need to wolf down a big ass kebab really fast, like under 10 minutes or so and wait for the effect to kick in. If done correctly your movements should feel unbelievably heavy to the point where you literally cannot move at all.

That's nice, but why? It's so much easier to just emulate it.

Wow... Just wow! lol

In all seriousness that's fucking amazing. I don't play Minecraft but I'd play just to check that out. True talented guy.

Pokemon Red is a legendary game, Minecraft ain't worthy.

I've always been impressed by these mega-advanced redstone builds in Minecraft. And scared. Mostly scared.
