You should play Xenoblade Chronicles if you haven't.

Yes it is. It just is. There's a charm about the game that I haven't found anywhere else. The soundtrack is amazing, from the character's themes to the intro song to random moments like the race in 2300 AD. The plot is straightforward but still very much engaging and the way they play with the time travel is brilliant both in the main plot and in sidequests or in simple details (like opening chests in the future first to get double the items). The combat is fun and I never get tired of seeing the dual and triple techs. Then there's New Game + and all the different endings you can get!

I bought a SNES to play Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy and Earthbound (I was a huge JRPG fan back in the day) and I adored it, I still do actually. I finished it numerous times and experienced absolutely everything the game had to offer. That being said, it is held back by one dimensional characters and a lack of any meaningful themes. It was probably the greatest RPG the day it released but it has since been surpassed by several others. I'd have to name either Deus Ex or Panzer Dragoon Saga as my personal favorite RPG.

cool thanks. will check out amazon if the DS version has a cool price. i wanted a retail copy so pushing more on the portable side. but if the VC is somewhat like $5 as well, maybe i'll double dip. :)

I'll go with DQVIII for the best RPG of all time.

It is an amazing title and one feel every RPG fan should play at some point.

My personal preference is still Grandia II for the battle system.

I prefer FF7, FF9, Xenoblade Chronicles. I don't even think Chrono Trigger was the best on the SNES. I much preferred FF6.
