Those are two very separate arguments. Chrono trigger isn't off the list because Minecraft is in the top ten. Nor are any other games not on the list at all because Minecraft is number 10. 

Reasons is there. It's fun is accessible, it allows for quite a bit of creativity on a scale far beyond most games and is social. So it's beyond "it's very popular" it's all the reasons why it's that popular that got it there on the list. Many could make the argument for it being even higher than 10

I didn't say Chrono Trigger isn't on there because Minecraft is, it's just another example of a game that is far more deserving.

It seems that accessible, and creative are now being held to a higher standard than story, atmosphere, soundtrack, pacing, character development, ect.

Endless freedom, exploration, creativity and fun with friends. Endless fun with friends. Unlimited replayability. The fact that a child can pick the game up and have endless fun with it, while at the same time a group of adults can jump into a world and create nuclear reactors and super computers shows just how endless the possibilities are. There is no limit to what you, I or anybody else can do in Minecraft.

Thats Minecraft in a nutshell. Thats why Minecraft deserves its spot in EDGE's Top 10 list.

No, you did just what Teeqoz said, you tried to direct the discussion in another direction because you simply can't legitimately justify why Minecraft doesn't deserve a spot in the top 10. I never said Chrono Trigger doesn't deserve something similar, but as you might know there are 10 places in a top 10 so there could well be space for both.

Thats the entire point Ive been making to you. Different genres have different gameplay mechanics and thus, appeal to different audiences. Different games excel at different things. Its why we cannot directly compare Gran Turismo to Final Fantasy. We cannot directly compare Call of Duty to Mario Kart. We cannot directly compare Hearthstone to Fire Emblem. We cannot directly compare Pokémon to The Last of Us. We cannot directly compare Super Mario 64 to Portal.

Different games excel at different things, the point here is that Minecraft is the absolute pinnacle of the sandbox survival genre. What Minecraft does, it does extremely well and EDGE rewarded that with a place in the Top 10.

A videogame doesnt have to have an epic story and orchestrated soundtrack to be fun. Thats what it all boils down to... Fun.

Yeah the facepalm seems about right, but it should be directed at you. You first complained about Super Mario Bros not being on the list, did you do that because it had such a great story, atmosphere or character development? No? Then guess what that means, there's no one set list of boxes that a game has to check to be considered good, great or one of the best ever made. Tetris is in the top 10 as well, I don't see you complaining about that, is it because of its brilliant character development?

Didn't need all that, all it needed was to be better than minecraft (which it is). It doesn't have to excel at everything, it just needs to excel at SOMETHING, which minecraft doesn't.
