Thats the entire point Ive been making to you. Different genres have different gameplay mechanics and thus, appeal to different audiences. Different games excel at different things. Its why we cannot directly compare Gran Turismo to Final Fantasy. We cannot directly compare Call of Duty to Mario Kart. We cannot directly compare Hearthstone to Fire Emblem. We cannot directly compare Pokémon to The Last of Us. We cannot directly compare Super Mario 64 to Portal.
Different games excel at different things, the point here is that Minecraft is the absolute pinnacle of the sandbox survival genre. What Minecraft does, it does extremely well and EDGE rewarded that with a place in the Top 10.
A videogame doesnt have to have an epic story and orchestrated soundtrack to be fun. Thats what it all boils down to... Fun.
