I think we've gone full circle to my first response. "Depends on your preference."

We are already at a point two years in where there are many great titles avaialble on X1 but not 360. Some games on X1 were ported to 360 but are vastly inferior.

When it comes to JRPGs, 360 might have an edge. But the X1 is going to have some JRPGs as well, a few of them will have Final Fantasy in the title. Dragonscale could be a notable JRPG. Dark Souls III is coming. In my opinion MGSV does plenty to satisfy JRPG fans.

It seems MMO's and MOBA's are finding more success on X1. Those are a genres that never really found a significant audience on the 360. So again, I don't think either platform will have an objectvely better library. Even if X1 fails to please JPRG like 360 did, X1 may please audiences in genres the 360 failed at.

Let leave it on "Depends on preference" after all that's how the whole thread started, someone making an opinion.  It's still too early anyway to figure out how large is the xb1 library gonna be.

Were talking quanity now? 360 will likely win in most physical releases. But most of that is hot garbage.

No neccesarily but it can make the comparison more fair IMO.  for example, xb360 ended up with 3 mainline gears of war, at this rate we might see 2 mainline gears of war at the end of this gen.  I might be wrong but GOW 4 is bound to launched at the end of its third year.  Same with halo, we might see 2 mainline halo game but don't think xb1 is gonna match the same amount of spin off titles 360 had.  Racing genre.  Even though the amount of forza might end up equal, being longer on the market opened up the oportunity to release PGR to cover some years on the xb360 life.  I'm not sure we gonna see a PGR game this gen.  In most of the genres will be like that, xb360 had more of what xb1 is gonna end up having.

Well X1 already has MCC, most of the Halo games on 360 are already better on X1. Halo 5, 6, and Wars 2 are the titles certainly coming to X1. I wouldn't be surprised if we see more as well.

Gears Ultimate is on X1 and a superior experience, perhaps the previous games will get the same treatment down the road. Gears 4, 5 and 6 could be on X1.

If they do a Forza every year there will be more Forza games on X1 than Fozra and PGR combined on the 360. There were six Forza and PGR games combined on 360. We don't need PGR, hopefully Playground games keeps making Forza games because the Horizona games are fantastic.

Again, you're focusing on quantity. What X1 is getting will be trump most of 360's library in quality.

Ultimately, I'm gonna keep my 360 and PS3 because they have some cool stuff we aren't gonna see on their successors.

Well yeah, I'm looking at quantity in some sense but not in the way of looking who has the most games in total but who has the most games of the popular genre as well as the most games in the rest of the genre.  I don't know about you but for me remasters don't have the same merit than games from scratch whether that is a true mainline game or spin off.  that those remaster play better? of course, I wouldn't expect less after all, it has better specs but in that sense, it is unfair but for the xb360 because of its limited specs.  Those games play more than enough on xb360 for what the console offer in terms of specs.  Don't see it fair to say "but those games play better on xb1", no offense but duh, it would have been a dissapointment if it weren't capable to play those games better.   Just think about what kind of games you had at your disposal during the whole last gen and compare that to what you might have this gen.  For me it's irrelevant if the xb1 version looks and play better because both gen(last gen and current) didn't compete at the same time, therefore, we play each gen individually, appreciating each gen for what they were capable.  in that sense it's not fair for xb360.

I rather compare who has the most unique tittles whether that is a true mainline or spin off.  Remasters don't take the same amount of time to make than new games.  Regarding to the racing genre, what I meant is that in the 360 library it has 3 different racing games to choose from exclusive wise.  forza simulator, horizon and PGR as exclusive.  XB1 so far we have forza simulator and horizon exclusive wise.  That xb1 doesn't need PGR? maybe, but that should be decide by each fan, especially those who enjoy PGR last gen.  Still 3 popular racing game on xb360 vs. 2 on xb1 mean, there was more choices to choose from last gen compare to this gen.

It's obvious by now you have different criteria to determine which is your favorite console and that's fine.  I have my own personal criteria, same as the person who started this thread saying that his favorite xbox console is the original.

I'm going to give you my honest opinion. Keep in mind, I've never owned an Xbox (2001). I've been gaming since the third gen. Maybe even earlier but I don't know which Atari console I used to play. I've owned every console Nintendo has ever made except Virtual Boy. I've owned every console Sony has ever made, period. I've owned a Sega Genesis and a Dreamcast.

In my opinion, the Xbox 360 was the best console of all time. It just did everything that I could ever ask of from a console (except not break). So yeah, I think it's better than the original Xbox. I'm not even sure I would give it up before giving up my eighth gen consoles. It's the king of the mountain and I would rub my naked body against it if I didn't have having to disconnect it.

Yes. The Xbox was perfect. It was like the Super Dreamcast. It did everything the XB 360 did, except break.

It was like Perfect Cell. Unfortunately, the PS2 was teen gohan, and we all know how that ended up.

I would say at this point, the X1. It hasn't had the issues the 360 did at launch, and it has already done fairly well plus has more support coming for it. The Xbox was a decent system, but only time will tell. At this point I would give it a tie to the X1 with an edge to the 1 :D

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

I'll say this. I got my 360 in 2007 and I went back and got several Xbox games to play via bc. Only a handful of them were worth my time.

When BC hits the Xbox One at full force, my 7th gen play time may rival my eighth gen play time (it already does). At this very moment, I already have more quality last gen games that I haven't finished in my backlog than there are 8th gen games announced that I'm willing to pay money for. Last gen was the shit!

Having the most games in a popular genre isn't worth much if most aren't very good. Its the good and great games that matter. In numerous genres the X1 will have a stronger library even with less games in those genres.

Remasters are worth more than you give credit for. The Halo games were on 360, but now better experienced on the X1. If you're gonna recommend a platform to play the Halo games on it will be the X1. X1 is going to have the old and new Halo games, while 360 will simply have the old games. That's an edge in the X1 library.

Forza Horizon is basically is the spiritual successor to PGR. It brings back some of the mechanics of that series and was even developed by some of the old Bizarre Creations team. Hence, that void is filled. Maybe they could make a game called Forza: PGR. But putting the resources to build a completely new PGR isn't worthwhile. You're now concerning yourself with quantity of IPs in the same genre.

Anybody who says OG Xbox is their favorite console has nostalgia for the games of that time. Like my first response, its all about preference.  I don't anticipate 360 or X1 will have an objectively better library.

Ditto, there is a lot of stuff on the 360 I plan on replaying down the road. I played and completed more games last gen than any other gen.

I have several Xbox 360 consoles so I plan on replaying many 360 games whether or not they get added to X1 BC. But I hope the games I want to replay are on the X1 BC. That way I can record clips when stupid shit happens.

But even if you consider popular names in the popular genre, games that review well, xb360 is ahead of xb1 right now and remain to be seen if in the next 3 to 4 year, it will change.  Yes, I dont give remasters much credit, 2 reasons, one because they are made to fill up the gap for the absence of mainline games and second because they never feel as fresh as the first time.  Remasters for me are an easy way out to improve the library, in this case, 360 deserved the bigger credit even if remasters play better.

To be honest, I completely disagree  with your mentality of "no need to have similar games in the same genre ", if this the case, then there is no point in making sequel since they practically play the same, looks almost the same.   No need for forza 7 or horizon 3 or no need for Dark souls 3 since we already have DS2.  Besides, my memory might be a little bit off but PGR felt a bit different in the racing mechanics.  Also forza cover racing simulation, horizon combine simulation/arcade feeling with more open tracks, I dont see why not PGR wouldnt be suitable for those who like 100% arcade racing with close tracks.  I am sure it will find an audience as well.  Of course I am concernig about quantity of ip, the more the merrier as long as there is something that distinguish them.  With more power I am sure they can come up with something unique.

I agree with your last sentence, its hard to consider the original as the best xbox console but that is not on me to determine that.

To me, yes. The OG Xbox offered something different than the PS2/GC and has a bunch of underrated/overlooked games, despite most of them being on pc, too. Now, Xbox is too similar to ps and just offers nothing for me. I also really love the duke controller since it is perfect for my manly hands. I have 4 of them in my room. sometimes, when I am bored, I hold them and recite poetry.

Never liked the Org Xbox. The controller was too similar to the Dreamcast which I hated. 360 is possibly my favorite console iv ever owned, its controller was a masterpiece for your hands and to this day the system still suprises me.

The Duke was crap, but the official controller that came later was much better.

The Duke had great analog sticks, build quality and triggers. The D-pad sucked, the face buttons were an odd shape and their positioning from eachother was strange. I never really had a problem with the size of it though and I don't think it deserves the hate it cops really. The N64 controller is much more flawed in my opinion with a terrible analog stick, essentially useless c-buttons, cramped handles etc. The S-controller had a slightly better D-pad but the black and white buttons were gimped but overall a nicer controller.
