Forums - Gaming - Black Ops 3 PS3/X360 update: no campaign at all, online only, $50, free Black Ops

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is a truly next-generation experience designed from day one to harness the full potential of the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Black Ops 3 pushes the boundaries of the franchise to new levels across all modes of play on next generation hardware.

The Black Ops 3 PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will feature Multiplayer and Zombies gameplay only, not Campaign. The ambitious scope of the 1-4 player coop Campaign design of the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions could not be faithfully recreated on old generation hardware.

Fans should note that other features built to leverage the next generation hardware like the new Weapon Paint Shop and the new suite of eSports tools will only be available on Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be available for a suggested retail price of $49.99 and include a bonus download for the original Call of Duty: Black Ops (bonus download availability may vary by region), the game that launched this series.

Edit: The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions are also Online Only

That's a really messed up way to transition people into the next generation.

This port is seriously the biggest example we'll ever get of a developer milking the previous generation completely dry:

  • Missing features (Weapon Paintshop, eSports features)
  • Missing gamemodes (Campaign)
  • No DLC support (not 100% officially confirmed but all pre-order DLC isn't available on PS3 and Xbox 360 and Season Pass is only announced PS4/XB1/PC)
  • Shit graphics (also pure speculation, but it's ported by 2 devs, can't go well)

At least the game is $10 cheaper and comes with Black Ops so at least there's that, but this game simply should have been PS4/XB1/PC only.

Huh, that could make for an interesting case to see the importance of a singleplayer campaign in a game like that.

To be fair the game will sell shit on last gen even with Campaign. We literally don't know anything about it except what's missing and who's porting it, haven't seen a single screenshot or second of footage.

Be curious as to sales break down given this information.

IW 2017 COD current gen only?

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

well, thats fucked up

Who knows if that's going to matter, just checked Advanced Warfare and that still sold almost 8 million on last gen. If this move is going to bring a lot of CoD people over to current gen (if they aren't already) then congrats to Sony, cause they will sell a boatload of CoD bundles in that case.

Why they couldn't just ditch last gen is beyond me.
