Looking at the upcoming Uncharted 4 got me thinking about the difference between games that release every year vs games with years in between interations.

Uncharted 3 was released in 2011; with UC4 coming out in March 16 that's almost 4.5 years between games. Obviously I know  Naughty Dog developed Last of Us in the gap, but just a simple question for you guys.

Think of Gears of War, God of War, Uncharted, Halo, 3D Mario, Gran Turismo vs the likes of Call of Duty, Battlefield (getting close to yearly), Assassin's Creed, *insert sports game here*

If you can guarantee me that the annualized franchises keep their quality, and don't sacrifice it for quick bucks, then I don't see the problem with it.

But...I doubt that's possible.

I pretty much think this

I wouldn't mind annual franchises that are polished, fresh, and enticing with each new entry. Souls is a series that as of late has been doing a decent job of that.

However, I don't want Assassin's Creed like releases.

Ya pretty much what Wright said. As long as you can keep the quality high and you're able to find meaningful ways to improve the franchise in that short amount of time, then by all means go for it.

Hardly ever the case though

Honestly don't think any franchise should get a game more than once every 3 years.

Doesnt matter as long as the can keep the quality up. There are people that died in the time between Mario 64 and Sunshine. I'd love another 3D Mario. Maybe two or three years.

I don't really like annual franchises because the quality always has to suffer! It's not rocket science.

More good is more good. Annually for the win. Imagine a Mirror's Edge or Final Fantasy Main game every year. Would be so fucking awesome.
