Think, that crazy guy that announced ps3 at first was really confident about the system potential. What if Sony went crazy again and said

" No ps4 , Ps3's cell power wasn't mastered yet, when it is it will be able to compete head-to-head with xbox one" 

Microsoft would be winning ...

xbox one will be at 30 million wiiu still selling poorly

The Vita would be at 25 million...lolz

8th gen performance would be a LOT lower, with many developers and potentially some publishers closing shop. We would basically lose Japan.

Meanwhile, Microsoft'shady dystopian plan for gaming would have remained in place and become the new standard demanded by those publishers that were left.

*shudder*

Naughty dog would still be able to pump out a 1080P/30fps Uncharted 4 :P.

xbone would be under 8 million having followed through on the original anti-consumer policies when there was no competitor to highlight how terrible they really were. wiiU would still be selling poorly. consoles and AAA would be in finacial ruin. PC and mobile become only viable options for gaming.

It surely would be the same of industry-saving that the NES did for the 3 generation, but we would be in a really bad situation now.As many stated before, Xbox would keep their ridiculous policies, and having no competition since the wii u would keep selling poorly, third partys would be forced to accept microsofts conditions.Thank god for the PS4

ps2 would see a re release

Xbox One would have never gotten rid of those DRM policies and their sales would be in the tank.
Wii U would be selling a lot better and it would be getting all the 3rd party Japanese games that the PS4 is getting.
