there was an article from gamespot about mario being a d*ck. mario would kill every enemy to save his princess time and time again. so he really killed a lot of enemies for the past 30 years. and they keep coming and still kidnapping Peach. if there is no conflict, we won't have any mario games at all.

anyway, is there a game where mario is the bad guy?

How do we know Bowser isn't really saving the Princess from Mario?  Perhaps she has Stockholm Syndrome and Bowser is a member of that universe's police force tasked with saving her.  Every time he is about to reach a breakthrough and get her to see that Mario is her kidnapper and not her lover, there is Mario smacking him around and "saving" his "beloved" princess.
