Forums - Nintendo - Wii U 2016 lineup looking solid

This is one of those things where I can see where you're coming from if you're a heavy Nintendo fan, but I think objectively that's a sparse and rather dull lineup.

Starfox and Zelda are must buys for me. As I already have plenty of wii u games I don't need more (Current lack of gaming time). But I'm sure I'll end up getting more for the system.

I think 16 will peak year, and 17 is when successor lauches

Not all that great. Would rather Pikmin 4 be an NX launch game, not a franchise that needs two entries in such a short cycle.

Was Pikmin 4 confirmed for 2016? I know they confirmed it was a good way into development, but so was Pikmin 3 in 2009...

No it's not confirmed, but in June Miyamoto said Pikmin 4 development is nearly complete so people assuming that is 2016. game. I don't recall that they said something similar for Pikmin 3 in 2013.

Much better than what everybody assuming just few months ago that we will have only Zelda U in 2016, but it looks we will have lineup almost on pair with previous Wii U lineups.

This is practically same situation with GameCube, we had Pikmin in 2001. and 2004. and for Wii U we have 2013. and probably in 2016. Pikmin 4 for Wii U don't require big budget or lotsa development time, because they already have Pikmin 3 engine and assets.

Zelda is a series that can sell up to 10M units, and has often been in some entries called GoaT or GotG.

I'm not sure it's something one can objectively qualify as dull.

I'm scratching my head trying to come up with a Zelda that has sold 10m units:

Even combining Twilight Princesses I'm getting just shy of 9m.  Where did you get 10m from?

And aside from that, it's one game.  One great game I'm sure, but in a year's period that's a pretty dull lineup.

(I'm sure there will be more than that eventually, but it's all we have to go on for now).

When the bar is that low, getting some more stuff doesn't always make it better.

It's one of those things.  As a Vita owner, I though 2015 was great.  Lots of niche Japanese stuff, and I like niche Japanese stuff.  But that doesn't appeal to everyone.  It doesn't appeal to many people in fact.  Taking a step back, there was little diversity in the lineup and plenty of long gaps in between releases.

Of the list in the OP, we've got a janky looking F2P game; an announced game with no platforms and the latest in a long line of cash-in sports titles.  The remaining 4 titles should be pretty good, but that doesn't really make it a solid lineup.

Solid lineups, to me at least, are when you have loads of games that are going to appeal to plenty of different groups of people; as well as appealing to people who like a bit of everything.  That definitely doesn't seem to be the list in the OP.

It really looks like the best home console lineup for 2016, if you exclude PC downports like any sane person would. Again. Though not by a great margin. Console gaming is getting pretty dull.

That looks like crap...I'm sorry but 7 games, which includes Mario and Sonic, and a F2P game Project Treasure, and one game which isn't even confirmed for the Wii U.  I think Q1 on the PS4 blows that away, GR: R, Mirror's Edge, Deus Ex, Uncharted 4, Star Ocean, The Division, SF 4, Dark Souls 3 and I'm sure I'm forgetting something.

Here is talk about Wii U lineup, and 2016 lineup doesnt look much worse than previous Wii U lineups and people thought we will have only Zelda U in 2016, that whole point of this thread not if PS4 have much better lineup.

And the Wii U has been critisized about having droughts and bad support in the past.  If this "doesn't look much worse" then how can it be solid.

Yes, Wii U had droughts and bad 3rd party support in the past, but had pretty good (solid) Nintendo support, and next year looks it will be on pair with previous Wii U years with Nintendo support, even people thought it will have only Zelda U.

I'm confused, before you said it was worse and now your saying its on par.
