What's your first language?

My first language is english and they are all straight garbage. The best one I've used is Hound and it's still not good enough to be worth using on a regular basis.

Strong accent maybe then? There are lots of accents that I can have trouble with.

first and only is english US and i have a very neutral accent growing up in the suburban parts of the midwest.  even when siri understands what i said the majority response from siri is she can't do anything to aid in that question.  seriously,.. if you aren't asking for the current weather is in your exact location siri is a piece of shit interface.

Depends on what you're asking. Siri can easily text or call someone while I'm driving, for example. Also, as I said before, first language being English doesn't mean that you don't have a strong accent.

Anyone know what he was actually saying?:3

Sounds like hes saying "Show me my most actress opportunities"

No, not really much of an accent at all really. I guess it might be my expectations. I won't consider one of these to be worthwhile until at least one of two things happen.

1. it needs to consitently be faster than just typing in a search.

2. It needs to respond to normal speech. You should be able to talk to it like you normally would, not anunciate like you're in a boarding school english class.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

1. Agreed.

2. Depends. Plenty of people speak English but are hard to understand due to poor enunciation. I don't expect Siri to understand when someone is munching syllables or letters.

So as someone using Windows 10, I can attest that Cortana is horribly unoptimized

I applaud Cortana for refusing to listen to a misogynistic pig, you can only be treated like someone's tool and property for so long before you snap.

She probably found out about Microsoft's toy-to-life-esque patent. Its one thing to be a tool, but she couldn't stand to be used as a mere toy by these mysogynistic scum!

Considering cortana is capable of being trained to your specific accent can't really say it's shit without extensive use... Plus there have been dictation pro software for more than a decade that work really well, pros wouldn't use it otherwise... Dragon software from nuance is great and very efficient example that proves that voice recognition is achievable with excellent results

And cortana is far from being just a voice recognition software, I use it everyday on my PC and smartphone with the keyboard to manage my calendar di my searches and other stuff

It shows!

I think what people are seeing here tho as Cortana being unresponsive is actually quite wrong, I mean... Cortana has proved herself throughtout the Halo series to be the all powerful AI which gives her Chief exactly what he needs, Contana in this case simply saw that Satya had been having a fairly long and draining conference, through the laptops webcam she was able to identify a calcium deficiency and was just suggesting that he went to go get some milk.

People really need to open their eyes to the bigger picture of using an AI capable of self sacrificing love for her user.
