I just don't see nintendo unveiling and releasing the nx in the same year. No way. No one has done that. Especially nintendo.nx 2017. Guarantee it.

I'll take a bet on that.

What would you like to bet? This is one bet I hope to lose, lol.

PS4, XBox One, XBox 360 ring a bell? It would be more like Nintendo just stepping back into line with everyone else. The 3DS was also announced, shown, and released within 12 months.

Announcing a product and then telling consumers "have fun waiting 2 years for this" is a very outdated concept.

And as far as 3ds, it wasn't released in the same calendar year. To me it's a bit different to show and release in the same calendar year, where the 3ds was shown and released in seperate years. And, I'm not sure where I ever said 2 years. If they show it in July or whatever, and release it in Oct or nov of the next year, that's not 2 years.

I'm also certain the NX will be a 2017 release. At most, it might be released in one region at the very end of the year. Especially with the recent reorganization at Nintendo, which probably is going to delay things a bit.

Looking back at the Wii's latter life,it looks a lot like the Wii U at the moment. 2011 only really had Mario Sports Mix, Wii Play: Motion, Kirby, Rhythm Heaven, Fortune Street, and Skyward Sword. Prior to 2011, a couple of those were unknown, and some were not released in some regions until 2012. That's about five retail games per year on the Wii in 2011 and 2012.

The Wii U is going to get SMTxFE, Pikmin 4, Pokken, and Zelda. Mario Party 11 is more likely than not, probably in 2017. Retro is probably going to release something or another in late 2016 or early 2017, three years after Tropical Freeze. HAL Laboratory will probably release another 2D Kirby in 2017, continuing the 3 year cycle they've had going lately. Not to mention the inevitable third party collaboration and/or middle-tier game like Captain Toad. That's at least on par with the Wii's latter life.

Either a billion dollars, or signature control.

I've been predicting a 2016 launch before the NX was announced.

A year is a year: 12 connected months. "It's not the same calendar year" or "It's not the same fiscal year" is grasping at straws.

Nintendo just approached Western third parties last E3. They would have about a year to port or develop a game. Iwata has said before that nintendo would not make the same mistakes again and release their next console without enough launch titles or with a big drought after the release. To me It seems more like a 2017 launch than 2016.

1.5 years is plenty of time to develop a game. Devs had the same amount of time getting ready for PS4 / X1 and that worked so your argument is invalid. And Square certainly didn't announce Dragon Quest without knowing the specs of the console or before having extensive meetings with Nintendo reps. The devs know about NX and they have known about ist for some Time now.

There is plenty of evidence pointing to a 2016 launch (please don't make me make a list), you guys just don't *want* the console to release that early. But we all know this is going to change very quickly once Nintendo unveils NX at e3 next year and announces Zelda, Metroid and the next Mario game.

Don't be silly. It's not what I want or don't want. It's just a fact that NIntendo just started to talk about the NX with thid parties. They can't release a console without any games. Sony announced PS4 in February. It was a two hours streaming if I remeber right. Could you see Nintendo doing the same?

Square didn't announced DQXI for NX. They're considering the possibility of releasing the game for that console.

No. It's a fact that they talked with a lot of third parties since E3 2005. But that doesn't mean that they haven't already talked with some third parties long before that behind closed curtains.

I dont know what the NX is. But I do know that the Wii U wont be replaced with updated hardware until 2017 at the earliest.

Grasp at whatever you want to, but unveiled in 2010, and released in 2011. Call it what you will.
