As an up and coming gaming journalist, I have not yet entered proximity of Kojima's dangly bits. Though, personally, the MGS series just doesn't appeal, so I guess there's that.

It is not your fault, and I completely agree! The industry is riding Kojima's d*** hard on this one, and why? Because it's the last Metal Gear, and we all love Metal Gear? Anyway, besides the great gameplay, this game deserves something way less than 9's and 10's. Maybe a 4 or a 5, for lying about how this game would conclude the series, explain everything, and be the defining chapter in the series. Instead, it's a scape goat to make more titles, by telling you that (how do I add a spoiler)

People like Kojima because he actually thinks of interesting new ways to play games. Just as a quick example, Psycho Mantis in Metal Gear Solid 1. The fact that in order to beat him you have to take your controller out and plug it in the port 2 is absolutely pure genius.

He's not a very good designer and a very bad screenwriter (plus, he's narcissist). I guess it's because he did a good job on the first Metal Gear Solid and the people writing reviews were players back then. I'm not sure.

But yes. Considering that Metal Gear Solid 4 got 94 on Metacritic, I'm sure everything he does, don't matter how bad it is, will always get universal praise.

I think The Phantom Pain is a good game, but far from a 10, more like an 8. I also agree with all of your complaints.

I like Metal Gear Solid series because those are "joke games", something to play when I'm bored of more mature and serious stuff like Deus Ex, but I'm not blind, I know all of those games are far from perfect.
