Before launch I was expecting something between 40 and 50m.

I learned about Wii U by the end of 2013 when it was already pretty clear that the console wasn't selling as much as expected, so I didn't really made predictions (yes , I know, I'm a shammefull Nintendo fan to not having known about Wii U for so long)

Personally selling wise I was hoping for a bit more, but it seems even the second place isn't lighting up the world either.

But overall all I want is a place to play great Nintendo games and the system delivered on that, with more excellent titles coming out I'm overall happy with the machine.

Looking at the trend of the Nintendo consoles I would have thought around 50 to 55 million after the Wii results, which would have been a moderate success for Nintendo.

I never had any sales figures in my head, but I expected it to be a success. And since they released a year early, I expected them to somehow remain the market leaders, though not with the same level of dominance as the Wii had. My only skepticism was the fact that the specs seemed considerably lower than the competition's, but I didn't realize how much lower it was, so I thought it wouldn't be that big of a deal to chase 3rd parties off this much.

I expected it to sell at least 40m, which it would have achieved if Ninntendo marketed it better and had a solid window of releases. But they messed what was already messed, so it's 100% their fault. Nowadays I think the Wii U will be lucky to surpass 18m.

I didn't know the Wii U was out until the E3 after the PS4 and XB1 reveal
