First off, does anyone else think it's weird how King Koopa and Princess Toadstool turned into Bowser and Princess Peach? Like, how did Nintendo get away with chaining major characters names? If that happened today, people would lose their shit.

Peach was always Peach. The US didn't use the name till later on. The US altered it to toadstool. Besides. Her last name a lot of times, is Toadstool. So it didn't really get lost. We then did the reverse with Bowser. He was Koopa. but then it got too confusing to call every turtle koopa. So he was renamed Bowser. JPN didn't care, and left it alone. He's accepted in JPN as either name.
