Forums - Sales - August 2015 NPD Thread! PS4, XBO, Wii U estimates up!

Love how ps4 continues to roll those ##1's despite everything ms does.

Around the Network

I totally forgot...MS had Rare Replay, Gears, AND the Madden bundle...and they still lost. damn.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

So basically it's all going to boil down to Halo, Tombraider and the Fallout marketing deal (which clashes with Tombraider)

Well ... I think we could see an upset this year.

The PS5 Exists.

Loving dat Rocket League @ #3

BUT BUT BUT!!! It's only popular because it was free!!!! NNNNNOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

I have to admit being sceptical, but after trying it out with my girls one lazy, rainy day we wound up skipping lunch and almost dinner.  The game is addictive.

Wow ps4 won. Didnt see that coming but nice job playstation. Also Rare Replay seems to have done well.

You're a regular on the Amazon threads, why would you not see a PS4 win coming? Amazon has a proven, nearly infallible record at predicting the NPD winner. Anyone who follows the Amazon thread should never be surprised by the NPD result.

I will never question Amazon ever again. Also the playstation domination is real.

In other news, The PS4 is actually up YOY again:

Rocket League so high up is good, since it came off PSN+. People are actually buying it now, so there should be less talk of Rocket league only doing well because of the PSN+ offer. Though there is no doubt the PSN+ offer was a huge bosst for the game's profile. Still, people are actually choosing to spend money buying it now, which is good for the game.

The Supersonic Fury add on also claimed top spot amongst PS4 DLC!Rocket League hype!

Rapture at 5th place was higher than I expected

#1 Amb-ass-ador

I was really confused why some thought XB1 would win but then remembered rare, madden and gears, daym.

I wouldn;t call it domination until we see the actual PS4 number. Even though PS4 certainly won the month, we have no idea about the gap. It might be fairly close (like 10K or so) and that could hardly be called domination.

@ others Why on earth would anyone think Rare Replay would push Xb one sales? The only real thing MS had this month was Madden marketing, and Sony effectively negated that by pulling a Microsoft and doing an unofficial Madden bundle. The Best Buy TV deal was something, but it was a cheap TV and it was only one retailer. It's only probable effect was to shift the market share balance of XB one sales towards Best Buy but not shift sales away from PS4 to Xb one.

I am dumbfounded at PS4 being up YoY again. It makes a 2015 price cut even less likely if it can be up YoY in it's most competitive market against its main competition which is $50 cheaper than it was last year. At this point Sony is possibly afraid of cutting the price as they could experience major supply shortages if they did. They should aim a price cut for May/June next year when sales are generally low and thus spread the increased demand created from a price cut over an extended time period, and at the same time have a longer lead in to prepare for the holidays. I suppose there will be a slim model next year.

And the Best Buy deal where you could get an XB1 and $400 TV for just $500 also must have helped
