Miyamoto being here is interesting didn't think he had much input in the Pokémon franchise.

He told the original creator (Tajirii) the games should have battling as well instead of trading only.

I would say that the manufacturing of physical items takes more effort than implementing something like microtransactions.

I believe it's more to increase the visibility of the product in public. They'll be all over in Japan especially.
