If I had a penny for every Xbox One sold in Japan I could buy an Xbox.

I'm pretty sure it is because almost every console comes with it.
Launch week sales: XOne - 23.562, Titanfall - 22.416

Yeah, that's why Knack sold over 1 million. Still my post wasn't that serious.

Japan isn't a strange market at all. They basically want the same stuff they've been playing since the 90s. More JRPGs, more RE, more MGS, etc.
Its just not a worthwhile market and MS didn't make any effort to succeed there. Quite frankly, it was the right choice. Trying to appeal to Japan is a waste of resources.
Even Sony doesn't bother making games for the Japanese market. They let 3rd parties handle that.

They have to stay. Xbox One may be a failure in Japan, but leaving Japan is a PR defeat that they cannot overcome. Especially because it happens to be Sony's home country. |
I don't think that's really a concern. More importantly, is MS losing a significant amount or any money having their product available in Japan?
I'm guessing the answer is no. If anything its probably publishers that will eventually stop supporting Xbox in Japan.
I mean look at Vita. Sony makes it available in the west, but not many publishers care to support it.

Those dismal numbers are probably one of the reasons Forza 6 didn't have any Japanese tracks still hoping one of the four Japanese tracks shows up as DLC eventually.

I'd guess MS has lost about $100 AT LEAST for every unit sold at this point. There is a point when you start to profit with whatever you produce, and MS is so far away from that sales number that they probably just try to keep losses at hand.
