It's funny because when they do more Japanese gamers will complain than have actually bought the console. It's a good console, it has the games. Japan's complete stubbornness towards the Xbox brand is just ignorance at this point.

No, the xbox 1 deserves these sales in Japan from a Japanese perspective

- it has not any segnificant Japanese made exclusives

- xbox live is way more expensive in japan than PS+

- the console is too big

- X is a synonyme for ''No'' in Japan. For them its called literraly the NoBox

To be fair, ive heard somewhere that the number 4 was like some kind of bad omen on Japan and look at the Ps4 numbers, its doing great there!

It's not just about maintaining a baseline, it's also about boosts which in their sum are as great as the Xbox One's launch week. Half of its LTD sales are from launch week. A baseline of ~150 units makes no sense, it won't get anywhere close to 200k within three years with those kinds of sales. Let's say the Xbox One manages average weekly sales of 250 units over the course of a year, then we get 13k units. At that rate we would be looking at an LTD of ~95k in three years from now. Unless Microsoft bothers to invest in software, the Xbox One will struggle to make it to 100k lifetime. 200k, let alone 250k, is highly optimistic.

Whoops, I definitely did my calculations wrong. Multiplied 150 times 365 rather than the number of weeks in a year.

Yeah, so this definitely solidifes the XBO being under 100k LT. Unless Microsoft does some fire sale promotion that bundles Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts 3 together along with a massive pricecut, but weirdly enough, I doubt that would change much.

The Xbox situation on Japan is very complex, what would you do?

- Leave Japan?
- Keep Trying?

The JRPGs money hats of last gen didnt work, so i doubt that Microsoft will be writing checks anytime soon tho.

Happy first Japanese birthday, Xbox One. Hopefully, the second anniversary will be better.

The Xone will not last another year in japan.

They have to stay.  Xbox One may be a failure in Japan, but leaving Japan is a PR defeat that they cannot overcome.  Especially because it happens to be Sony's home country.

And selling 54k in a year time against 1 week of the ps4 is not a huge and humiliating defeat for xbox japan?

Microsoft dont need japan.

I agree, it would be terrible for the XBox image if they abandom Japan. Theyll likely loose a lot of money to keep the console going in Japan but they wont abandom it.

Still wondering why they tried in the first place if everyone and their mother knew it would fail. I have to assume they had some reason that's just too far beyond us regular consumers.

Xbox_Japan are the Heroes Japan needs but doesn't deserve right now.

That's pretty good can we have PS numbers for comparison?

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.
