It means nothing if the world is empty.

that depends.

If it big just to give a sense of scope that could be cool. If they scatter random collectables around the world and expect you to wander around collecting them but have nothing interesting in those areas that would not be cool.

Like the majority of witcher 3 question marks.

Like the majority of witcher 3 question marks.

The only question marks that were dumb in Witcher 3 were on Skellige.

The ones on the main land were good. They made the world feel like a world. You have rnadom monster nests, you have bandit camps, you had random strong monster, small treasure hunts, ect.

Meanwhile on Skellige you just dove to the bottom and grabbed a chest 100 times.

But really, just turn off question marks on Witcher 3 and enjoy the game. Randomly running into those quesiton marks is better than running blindly to them and doin the 1 of a dozen vaious things.

This... all of this.

Also the WoW map used there is vanilla, that has grown quite a lot in the past 10 years and ofc that is not including any of the size which is instanced areas.

Tbh I don't believe this comparison picture...

Neither do I. Total BS.

Where is Xenoblade Chronicles X?

Most of these games ar mmos or sandbox games but for Final Fantasy its very large because you will see many content with it. Guild wars for example is an mmo which means many content is filled by using the community of players instead having solid Singplayer elements

Meh I'd trade off an excessive map like that for a smaller one chock full of things to do any day. Even if the larger one has plenty of activities etc; it;s still too overwhelming tbh

The original Guild War games status as MMOs was a point of contention for many players. Most MMO players would tell you that calling Guild Wars an MMO was a stretch. The cynical ones will call it a joke. The thing with Guild Wars is that most areas were instances exclusive to your party, so the number of players was determined by your party size, which, most of the time, was limited to 8. Except for the towns. Those were glorified hubs for players to chat and make parties. Many players saw it as a Diablo style ORPG because of this restriction.
