Why watch other people play sports?

I'll agree when it's something like golf, but even then it's about cheering on the player as opposed to the team. That's generally what watching sports is about. Living vicariously through someone or many others. Often the reasonings for this is because it's where they grew up, or they have a tie to it in one way or another. With gaming, it's not. For the most part the ability to play the game is a real thing, they are quite accessable and generally cost the same as the cost for the internet that it is being watched with.

Very few have the ability to be a professional athlete, however the vast majority have the ability to play a game.

I do understand the idea of watching a video to find out a part you are having trouble with, but I find that walkthroughs generally work better and are easier to find those specific sections.

Your analogy is not correct.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

Hilarious! And he's completely right, watching other people playing games rather than playing them yourself is silly.

I disagree. There are lot of things people watch that they could do themselves. Sports being the most obvious example.

Actually, that's not always an option. Some people aren't good enough to actually be on a team, or then end up as bench warmers. Hockey is far from an obvious example since there is a crap ton of cost associated with it. Basketball is cheap, but again it comes back to the first point, then genetics also has its part to play. Football? Same as hockey and Basketball. Soccer is likely the cheapest but still falls to the first point. It often becomes far more about the roots of the team instead of the actual game being played and the association with that not unlike pride for a brand or country lol.

It wasn't hilarious but i did chuckle at the god part. People love to be offended, doesn't matter what the topic is, they just do. It is nothing to be butt hurt about.

But athletes do impressive things that are beautiful in our eyes. the only game videos that would fit in it are speed runs like super mario 64,smb world, where players do impressive movements that a regular player cant do it and not to waste time watching a shitty player that doesnt even like to play and only do videos to get money.

watching MOBA games is fun though. :)

but watching girls showing cheeks while pretending to play games ain't that fun. better to watch other sites if the intent is to watch the girls. :D

This was taken way out of context. It's just an innocent joke on a late night TV show where they make fun out of everything. It's pathetic that people get angry over a joke which wasn't that good or elaborate. And judging by the comments on the second video, it seems they were written while they were having an angry fit. I mean, "You just fucked with the wrong community"? "You're playing a dangerous game"? The worst part is that on Youtube, people seem to believe he really hates the gaming community and that the joke was real. If I were him, I wouldn't take them seriously and I wouldn't even apologize to them.

The analogy would be more akin to watching people play backyard sports.
