Forums - Sony Discussion - Tearaway: Unfolded Is Another Success For Sony

Sony really needed that after it was revealed that Until Dawn is a piece of trash (79!!).

How exactly is this a victory for Sony? It's a port.

'The journey takes you across a few lands, but Media Molecule has added multiple areas that weren’t in the original. If you’ve played Tearaway before, at first it feels like Unfolded is making you think your mind is playing tricks on you. Rather than you having a bad memory, it becomes quickly apparent that Unfolded has so much new content that it feels like a new game rather than a remake. Instead of just putting out a new version of a game that was great on a system with low ownership numbers, this feels like the ultimate version of the game. There’s more story, more levels, and new mechanics that fix some of the issues that existed before.

Firstly, there’s no rear touch to worry about. As you bounce around on drum-like trampolines, you don’t have to fumble at the rear of the Vita hoping you’re getting it right; instead this is all done on the touchpad: push it down to depress the drum, release to make the messenger jump. Where the story once went in a certain direction, even the transitions between areas have changed when it comes to the narrative. The touchpad comes into play again when you are able to control the winds, and this gives way to another new mechanic, allowing you to craft a paper plane and fly around on it. Motion controls are used sparingly through the original portions of Tearaway, but some of the new, more tricky levels employ them heavily. They work well and add a layer of difficulty that wasn’t really there before.'

So either it's a sequel or they changed the controls. So what?

You're two years too late and so is your wallet

Well, we already knew it was a critical darling. The question is how it will sell.

What would you consider a "victory" then?

Its not a simple port, they changed a lot on the game. Added stuf, had to work on controlls from the ground up, changed some parts of the actual game world etc. This is like a 50/50 new game/port HD remaster thing to be honest.

Im not sure if this is sarcasm or not but since when is 79 a piece of trash. Not to mention the reviews for Until Dawn are super divisive, you egt awesome scores and crapy ones, so its the kind of game ppl should play and come to theyre own conclusions. I loved the game, but I tend to like basicaly every interactive narrative style kind of game like Teltales stuf, Life is Strange, Quantic Dreams games eetc.

A port is a game that was originally made for a platform before an identical version is made for another. A good example of this would be Bioshock, which came out on the 360 first, then the PS3 a year later. Tearaway Unfolded does not fit the definition of a port because it fails the identical part of the definition.

The game is somewhere in between a remaster and a new game. A remaster is an improved version of a previously existing game. However, Tearaway Unfolded isn't just Tearaway with higher resolution, better textures, and improved framerate. The controls are significantly different and there's 50% more content than the original game.

Pretty sure it was just sarcasm. Vivster just likes to troll a lot.

How about we get back to your statement that's it's just a port?
