New XB1 bundle announced: 1TB XB1, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Rare Replay and a full-game download of Ori and the Blind Forest. $399, coming October 27th. http://news.xbox.com/2015/09/xbox-one-1tb-holiday-bundle

With those bundle priced like that,  you have to wonder if Sony really feel the heat for a price cut? I always expected a $100 price cut from Sony but now I think they will only do a $50 price cut.

What do you guys think?

For another $50 you get 500GB extra storage, Rare Replay and Ori in comparison to the GoW bundle out now. I'd say it's a pretty good deal but nothing insane.

Exactly. The value is really good, but i dont think those bundled games will move too many consoles.

All the pressure remains on Halo 5 shoulders.

As long as all these bundles are $400 and Microsoft doesn't give the XB1 any temporary price cut during the holidays Sony wont have to drop the price at all. BO3 $450 bundle, Destiny $400 bundle, Star Wars $450 & $400 bundles. The PS4 is already outselling the XB1 while $50 more, why not when some XB1 bundles are also $400? Maybe they'll throw in another additional free game during the holidays, but I just don't see why Sony would drop the price with how things are currently looking.

As long as Microsoft doesn't increase the price gap between the 2 consoles there's no need at all for Sony to drop in price.

Hard to think Sony will go 2 years without a price cut with the PS4. It is true that the PS4 is selling extremely good. But they need to increase that market share for all those games coming in 2016. All those price cut already happening at other places for the PS4, I think the price cut is happening.

Two things strike me: MS are now realising why it's a bad strategy to focus everyone's attention on the Christmas period and then cut, cut, cut that price. Consumers are waiting. MS are going to struggle to offer extra incentives because they basically had nothing all year round. Sony can add in MLBTS, Bloodborne, Until Dawn, Tearaway, Everyone's Gone to the Rapture, The Order, Rocket League, GOWR, Journey, TLOUR and Volume (to a lesser degree). Building up a great portfolio of games 'throughout' the year gives you value to add at the end of the year. Not only does this mean they sell less consoles most of the year but they also have to lose profit at the end of the year. Great strategy MS.

The latest bundle shows how they've had nothing for most of the year.

This is basically ALL they've had all year. They've done a better job of showing the contrast with this bundle than any list could:

They said "new bundles are coming" so everyone is waiting for those bundles. But the bundles are not that good yet...

I had to Bold all of this post because its just too factual. Microsoft is fucking up in just too many levels.

Really curious to see where this bundle gets in the charts and how long it sticks around. I don't see it striking a chord with the wider market. Don't think 1TB is a particularly big deal to a lot of people, combined with a collection of older games that is cheap anyway, plus Gears Remaster, which is decent but I'm not sure it will excite people, and then Ori is a non-entity frankly. For $399.

Last year's bundles were better than this one.

1tb XB1 bundles was never going to be a big deal, largely because it's easy to use an external drive. Now, IF you refuse to allow an external HDD then 1tb becomes a selling point. Sony know what they're doing.

Do you realize its cheaper to buy an internal HDD than an external? Do you also realize the performance is almost always better on an internal (most people buy shitty external drives without realizing it) ?

The two benefits of an external are:
1.) You can dynamically add it without having to copy all your current data.
2.) You can use a 3.5" drive instead of just a 2.5".
