For a limited time only?
I wonder if they will have a price cut when this offer expires? Maybe unbundle Hail Mary from the pennance and sell it separately? Or introduce Confessional Booth Access subscription plan to the habitual sinners?

Women, better hurry up and get pregnant and have that abortion while the offer still stands.

Everyone knows if you hold out til Black Friday you'll get a better deal.

OT - I hadn't know that you needed to ask a Bishop for forgiveness for doing this, sounds nuts to me.

What if the woman who got the abortion switched religions, got forgiven there, then decided to come back?

Is she still forgiven and all good at that point?

If we take conservative religious beliefs to the extreme, then a rapist who made a woman pregnant is a lesser evil than a woman who aborts such a baby. After all, the rapist had the decency not to use a condom.

First couple of comments sums up my thoughts.

The Pope understands he is not God. Maybe even in the inside, he realizes that the bible is fucked up in many ways.

It is obvious to me that this Pope wants to make this society a little bit more tolerant. He is like a double agent working from the inside in favor of common sense.

Ok God forgives all sins. What right does the pope have to offer forgiveness 'for a limited time'?

Playing Xenoblade 2 before I buy Xenoblade 3 (otherwise I couldn't wait to play 3).

Can they announce a new Fire Emblem? A remake of Genealogy or Tellius would suffice !

..and if you repent in the next ten minutes you will also receive a fee rosary and another set of forgiveness you can give to a friend or family member.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

the problem with christians is that because of manipulations they've been suckered into fighting for all types of causes that really shouldn't concern them

the main rule of the christian church should be as i think jesus said " do onto others as you would have them do onto you"

if everyone followed this in my opinion many problems would disappear overnight

why should a christian care that people of the same sex are attracted to each other, once they affect no one outside of themselves? well they shouldn't if they don't wish to be persecuted themselves

although when applied to abortion in particular that would also present an issue - being killed before you've had the chance to experience life isn't something anyone would like to go through for themselves i don't think

and its interesting that cathlolics don't seem to be picking up on the fact that the pope is acting like if he is a mediator for god, which is the most blasphemous thing ever

it was actually the reason why lucifer was cast down from heavven to begin with, because he tried to assume god's power

But I really don't think that makes much sense. To me it sounds contradictory. I don't see how they can believe that the blood of Christ washes away all your sins if you believe and that you have to ask a priest to get your sins absolved.

Because to be forgiven one has to repent and also must show the true repentance to someone who can give the absolution. Which would be a priest, since shrinks, judges or lawyers aren't recognized by the Catholic Church (and thus by God). Also one isn't allowed to go to holy communion without having confessed first.

Also it is interesting how Freud and Jung didn't invent much. The catholics have been doing that kind of "therapy" for centuries. Even for free! ^_^

and where every other denomination differs is that priests do offer any absolution. Forgiveness comes through God, not through your priest. That forgivenessis available to you through your relationship with Christ, thus making the act of confession more of interpersonal/emotional act than a spiritual one.

Now, the importance of this is just that abortion was punished by excommunication meaning you couldn't confess your sins. This changes that, so at least Catholics can continue to practice.

It's amusing watching the old western religions scrabble around, making compromises, attempting to remain relevant and catch up with societies that have - for now (the growth of Islam In Europe will, I suspect, result in a reversal of that trend in the coming decades) - largely moved beyond the beliefs that previously defined the church.

As much as I disagree with them, I have far more respect for the hardliners. At least they're remaining true to their beliefs instead of attempting to be half pregnant, as it were.

Is this really a compromise? Catholicism isn't really changing with this... :-/
