Forums - Gaming Discussion - Should EA continue to ignore Nintendo?

I think they will have FIFA, Madden NFL, and maybe a Star Wars title (gotta milk that license) for NX launch. Not huge support, but enough to test things out.

I wouldn't mind being able to play a game of FIFA on the go with console-ish quality graphics on the NX handheld so that at least gives the NX a differentiator between other platforms. For Wii U, FIFA was always just going to be ... the same (well inferior version) of FIFA that the other consoles got that played the exact same way, but if you can take your NX games on the go, that changes that. Can't throw your PS4 in your back pack and play on the road.

It would be sincerely hilarious if the NX turned out to be a phenomenal success and Nintendo decided to ignore EA.

Unfortunaly that would be really hard. Games like fifa ar the best selling games across the competitioner consoles. I do know many people who JUST play fifa on their console. Keep in mind fifa does almost sell only in europe and the sales are ridiculous high for that single territory.

The system wouldnt stand a chance against ps4/xbox one in europe. So it would be the exactly same like the wii u, just a secondary console. Todays situation proves, that most gamers are not interested in owning more then 1 console per generation.

How should EA loose money with an already finished game?

Crysis 3 would had sell easily 100-300k on wii u (like similar aaa titles).

Even if we say just 100k. Ea would probly make 20 bucks profit per sold game (rest taxes and all the other stuff).

100k x 20bucks = 2mil.

How should they pay more then 2mil to release the game? Doesnt make any sense at all.

Because the production and time wasted to potentially make only $2 million could instead be used on other projects guaranteed to make at least $100 million.

Yeah 2012 was great for handheld FIFA on Vita. It was such a shame they didn't bother adding anything more to it after the launch title :(

That was based off FIFA 11 though. So something based on FIFA 16 for NX would be great.

The motive is it wouldn't have sold, and EA would have lost more money than if they had released it. Just like the fully complete localization of Earthbound Beginnings that never came out. No hidden motive. Just an obvious motive: money.

It costs some money to get a game made and in shops. $20 profit per game is optimistic aswell.

I do think they would have made a small profit though, but EA probably just thought it wasn't worth it in the long run, with maintaining servers for the game to think about.

If it was that simple, yes EA crazy not to do it.

Same way tv shows are canned before even airing. Take the Wonder Woman pilot not too long ago. It was a nearly 100% finished 2 hr pilot. Huge investment. Millions used up. More millions would be lost because of the TV spot from ad revenue. And those sponsers maybe get mad and not go back. It's better to just air something old than something more won't watch. Not piss off companies. And damage the image of DC, WB, and the Wonder Woman comic. Think of Gearbox and Duke Nukem. Or Aliens: CM. You easily can go "screw anything made by that shit company."

Eh. Like, if the NX is successful, they'll be back. They don't have anything against Nintendo outside of a lackluster product that didn't sell.

This basically

They go where the money is

It would have sold like .1% of that imaginary 100k then.
