If I am going to be totally serious for a second, I think the reviews to this game is yet more evidence that you should pay attention to previews as indicators of how a game will be reviewed. You can't pay attention to the static, like Famitsu's review -- you have to look for the general trend.

Previewers thought The Order: 1886 was incredibly bland and mediocre before it was released. Its scores indicated that, despite people thinking it would score much higher.
Previewers found Until Dawn to be endearing and enjoyable, despite it being demonstrably flawed before it was released. Its scores indicated that, despite people thinking reviewers would eviscerate it.
Previewers described Devil's Third as an absolute abomination before it was released. Its scores indicated that, despite some people thinking it would still be good.

Now, if I'm going to make a prediction following these guidelines, I'm probably going to go with (and I am going to get a hell of a lot of flak for this) Xenoblade Chronicles X. Almost every indicator suggests that, while it is still good, it is significantly less good than the original. So, we should expect that it will score significantly lower than the original (85-ish should be expected).

If it turns out that it's amazing, and light years better than the original, I will happily back down from my argument.

as mentioned in previous Devil's Third threads weeks ago. The game looks decent, it is just those crap background graphics are really sore in the eyes of many. with the glitches/bugs that can be polished (i guess) which felt the game not on standards in the current shooter's genre.

don't compare it to Until Dawn and other previews, i still think it is about the taste of the gamers/reviewers of those type of games. I won't buy a game that would just let me watch 5-10 minutes of CGIs, then press X or left and right then R2 to inform the character the next available option on what will happen to the game. it is just an interactive movie to me.  and i won't buy it for $60 either.

Believe it or not... I will eventually buy this. It will get a seat of honor among my library and will be proudly displayed. I bought Watchdogs on Wii U and regret nothing. I think this will be the same thing.

I've bought Watchdogs too, but with a discounted price on the Wii U. I'll buy Devil's Third, but it would be released after XCX, so it is not worth buying it day 1 for me.

Too bad, even if this was average I was keen to try it out but when you see 3/10 scores you have to accept defeat

Well, i dont mnd this. The price drops quicker and i will get it sooner. I still dont believe its the disaster reviewers think it is. They also said terrible things about Bound by flame and its been my favorite game this year.

I'm in the same boat. Hell I might even end up liking this a bit more than Watch Dogs U which I liked quite a bit.

Kind of disappointing. When it was first unveiled at E3 a couple years ago, this looked like it could've been one of the funnest games ever.

0331 Happiness is a belt-fed weapon

But, but, but it looked "promising"...

Game of the year 2017 so far:

5. Resident Evil VII
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
1. Super Mario Odyssey

Seems like the metacritic just keeps on creeping upwards really. It's crazy when you think about it.

Still far from decent but maybe steering out of unmitigated disaster territory.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Maybe it will climb up ahead of Yaiba Ninja Gaiden Z

Go go devil's third !
