No, it's not up there for everyone to see. Unless, you're actually looking for the data, you won't see it so that's how.

padib said: Cheating is stupid and the users are at fault. Hackers are never at fault, they simply expose a technological weakness and make the penalty as severe as they can. I don't agree that the hackers should be punished at all for this. Site is at fault for offering such an immoral service and associating names to accounts. I say this as a proud Canadian. |
Tell that to all the PSN/Live users - that hackers are never at fault.

The hackers have clearly done the wrong thing and leaked personal info. The site members are at fault too though. It is there for everyone to see... No kidding you have to search for it... A moot point, really. Not sure how it puts anyone in a better light.

When it comes to Ashley Madison's responsibility, I would like to add that the website had a special service for $19 that promised to erase the accounts from existence off the website, but now people found that that wasn't the case, even if you paid for it:
ALM offered a paid option in which people who created a profile could have their account scrubbed from the Tinder-for-adulterers website if they coughed up $19. When the massive data dump of Ashley Madison lust-hunters surfaced, it was found that while information was indeed removed when accounts were deleted, some details remained in the site's databases – and were splashed all over the web by miscreants.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

I think the whole thing is hilarous. It was just a matter of time before something like this happened to such a website.

Really? The worst huh?
Worse than murder, terrorism, armed robbery, rape.
Cheating sure is bad.
Op: cheating is not the worst one can do. It's dishonest and selfish, but there are worse things.
However it's still morally wrong. Do I feel bad for those hacked? In between.
You always have the chance of this online and they chose that risk.

To be honest I don't care. Everybody has issues and pointing the finger is the least helpful of all things no matter the direction.
People struggle with a lot of things though, including murder and pedophilia, hence the legal system. For some reason though I get the feeling you're going to justify this on the grounds of "they are struggling" but point the finger if it's something you are morally against and then it just becomes a question of one man's code over another and that is pointless since we all have our value systems and none fully agree. In that case " they were strugglin" can apply to absolutely anything, and I'm okay with that so long as it is applied to everything. As for hackers, the best way to look it them is as an uncontrollable force of nature because so long as computers exist, hacking will be real. |
We're just going to have to agree to disagree if you think infidelity is on par with murder and pedophilia, because there's no arguement you can make that will logically work for me on that.
If you're really shocked to find out your significant other was on a website like this too, IMO you were lying to yourself most likely for a long time to begin with anyway.
We know human beings like to fuck. I'm just putting that bluntly because it's hardwired into our DNA, to deny that is to be naive, we wouldn't exist if we didn't have an overwhelming urge to want to do so. I'm not saying that's a good thing per se, but it is a survival mechanism. So I don't really believe in all the "shaming" that comes with it.
No it's not a great thing to do, but neither is eating yourself to obesity or indulging in too much drinking, yet we're not surprised that some people like to eat a lot or drink a lot, sex is far more pleasurable than either of those things, why is it such a shock to some people that some people have trouble controlling how much sex they have? It doesn't surprise me, and I don't neccessarily think it's the end of the world.
In terms of these hackers, I don't think they have the right to put their pain of likely being cheated on themselves and intrude on so many people's lives like this. If your girlfriend wasn't faithful, I'm sorry, but that doesn't give you the right to cause a broad spectrum of people pain, including people who never followed through on anything or family members who don't want this information public.

So the PSN hack was Sony's fault and unfortunately people were overcharged for being on an unsafe network. |
People still had to be out of online features for 3 weeks and had their details stolen. No way you can spin hackers wno harm regular people as faultless.
