This is really different as certain Japanese games are most likely to sell 3/4 of their units on a domestic system anyway (as regulars of VGchartz should know), so a Japanese studio might neglect to release it on the Xbox One so as to focus on one platform. There have only been 50'000 Xbox Ones sold in Japan. So if a Japanese studio makes a game like Dead or Alive that clearly is aimed mostly at Japanese gamers, and Japanese gamers don't own Xbox Ones, they're not going to bother financing an Xbox version. This happens constantlyyyy with NIS and Atlus games.
I don't see how anyone can compare this kind of exclusivity to what Microsoft have done with Titanfall and Tomb Raider. Instead of giving Square $200 million for Tomb Raider or whatever sum it was for this pathetic and artificial window of exclusivity, how about Microsoft acquire a studio like Sony acquired Naughtydog - who have gone on to make billions of dollars for Sony. Now you've got B grade studios making the Halo and Gears games because Microsoft didn't acquire Bungie or Epic.
