It was, but you still have people saying they won't buy the game due to motion controls not only here but on other forums as well.

Well then I can't provide an explanation for that contradiction of the facts. However, what I can say is that with this confirmation and also that which we saw at E3, as well as a little bit of commonsense, it should be clear to everyone that motion controls are optional for this game.

Hopefully...

It should be clear, but it's not. See, that's why we cannot have nice things!

good news for Star Fox fans. Watching that demo seems a little bit difficult at first. if I have this game, surely I'll try the motion control and see how difficult it is. it is just basically watching two different screens almost at the same time since the game pad is needed to look at your targets and shoot with gyro as your aiming.

I'll try the motion controls but I'm probably gonna keep the good old two sticks control

The more controller options, the better -- and the more likely we'll hear less bitching and whining about the gamepad.

This being something of a rail-shooter, it'd be awesome to have Wiimote controls for single player. They were introduced as an option for 2 player coop

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Nice to give the option. I always love more options when it comes to controls and especially if they are trying to force motion. If it was motion only then I might have thought twice about getting the game.  I'll probably try to use the motion first but more than likely go back to traditional control scheme.  Just want to see a better video of the game than what was shown at E3. It looked decent but the game can look a lot better with some touch up.

This is gonna be similar to Splatoon, people talking shit about the gyro controls, everybody says that they will play the game without it and then the game comes and.... everybody uses the fucking gyro because it is way more accurate and fun this way.

I could see them going with a wiimote + nunchuck option for single player using the nunchuck to steer and the wiimote to aim.  More than likely it will just be Wii U Pro controller and perhaps the classic controller (pro) options.  They don't even have wiimote + nunchuck option for Splatoon which is kind of sad (I'd probably play better with that option).

Woohoo! Hopefully the motion controls are also good too though. Would love to have 2 good options.

Thank you for making this thread. I actually didn't know that the giro was optional in Starfox. Not that I minded the motion controls in the first place, but it's still neat to know.

I think my major concern is that even without needing to use gyro controls, can I just use the TV screen to move and shoot at enemies? I have no interest in using the 2nd screen aiming system they keep showing off.
