You are right. Looks like NES Remix. And in NES Remix 2 the game even records your playthrough and you can share the vid with other users, like described in the OP. Why are they patenting NES Remix now?

Still hope PS move and Kinnect success though
Looks like Nintendo has finally heard me. Looks like they want my business... Bring it bitches! 😃
BTW, Xbone 🎮 records your video of notable Achievements as well. Its actually gotten pretty annoying to many and has been voted to be less of a thing. But, this is a different audience. I would have loved showing off to my middle school 🏫 buddies how awesome I was with videos of me being awesome.

I guess it would be much better if Nintendo wouldn't even bother with achievements, right? =) |
I, for one, do not want a a little pat on the back every time I do something in a game. I have a feeling that this patent will be used to tie people into their mobile gaming. I feel kind of relieved now thinking about it.

It's still kinda amazing how far behind Nintendo are on online features and accounts systems though, glad to see them moving along and trying to catch up with the market, but there's a long way to go. |
Wii U has stamp collection that you collect in game and integrate it to Miiverse. That is collecting it within the game for 3D World, in a sense it is an achievement system getting a cetain point of the game and those stickers are hidden. In MK8, you need certain achievements to unlock the stamps, it is nt (I assume) implemented across all games. The patent can refine the part of that stamp collection system Wii U have. Not really direct to trophies/achievement of other consoles but there is something for completionist. The game recording is cool as long as they can integrate to youtube (don't know where Nintendo stands on this as of the moment) or twitter or facebook and link Miiverse to those other social sites then that would be really awesome.
All I know Nintendo is lagging in cpu and gpu to attain those atleast acceptable PC display settings which is the primary need for 3rd party games. But you know Nintendo, they'll do what they think is the best for their console. It could be a bit better than Wii U, maybe around 720p plus the rumor hybrid thing. Who knows.
Sounds good. Let's just hope Nintendo executes this right... I think they could easily f*ck this up somehow.

I don't think they necessarily need to catch up on power, but I think they need more and better functionality, especially online which has grown to become immensely important on consoles over th 7th generation and till today.
The funny thing is it's really nintendo games more than any that I want achievements for, whereas I generally don't care with most of the Xbox/Playstation games despite them being available. Not sure why really... I think I just remember playing the heck out of nintendo games as a kid where you'd explore every last corner of the game and invent games within the games with your friends, so I instinctively want something similar for those franchises heh

I don't think they really even need to "fuck it up"... They could release something cool but, given there's two other consoles and the NX is out of sync with them, it could fail all the same. How much can they really offer that's sufficiently unique to motivate those who just bought a console to buy another?
I know I'll almost certainly buy one but that's because I'm a fan and love Nintendo's first party games... The average person won't share those motives.
