It definitely seems to be an incredibly strong contender for the title. I'd argue that it's only real competition released so far this year is The Witcher 3.

and the only one that seems capable of competing with those seems to be Fallout 4. 2015 is such a big year. maybe bloodborne can compete? 

Fallout 4 may stand a chance but right now Metal Gear, The Witcher 3 and to a lesser extent Bloodborne are the only real contenders. This has been a very good year overall.
