Dragon Quest Heroes - Not super Niche. Hyrule Warriors sold over 1m, why can't this? Uncharted Collection - Agreed Until Dawn - Idk No Man's Sky - Just because it is indie does not mean it is bad or etc. No Man's Sky is going to sell a ton. |
Isn't Persona turn-based Anime-type game? It will never go mainstream, no chance. If Sega decides to invest in marketing a lot, it might get a bit better return, but it will probably, like all Japanese games, get released in the west without much noise, a few articles here and there. It's just that the cost of marketing to turn a niche game like this into something mainstream would be astronomical - they can turn a much better profit selling 750K copies with minimal investment.
DQ Heroes - the same. Hyrule Warriors sold a lot because a) Zelda is a much bigger brand in the west than DQ and b) WiiU has a much sparser release schedule, DQ will be forgotten by the end of October and about 10 new PS4 AAA games releasing that month.
NMS - its success will end up being decided by the combination of release date and pricepoint. Releasing in Oct/Nov for $60 will kill it quickly regardless of quality and/or indie status. A January $30-$40 digitally will make much more sense. I don't know if they plan a retail release. But Dying Light has shown that a quality game can release outside major holidays and succeed.
