Goddam, Dr. Nebel! That guy must have really struck a nerve!

More like him and this stupid old discussion getting over 300 replies again.

Careful, you might want to lower your tone.

Those using the excuse of those gamers who have missed out is complete BS. Most gamers last gen ended up with both consoles and even if some didn't get the chance to play those games, they can also go out and buy a PS3 and the games at a much cheaper price. Its not like these consoles and games are obsolete.

What I don't get is that most gamers have kept there PS3s because the PS4 isn't BC. So why would they want to buy the games again on PS4? And why should they invest to buy a expensive console when there's a much cheaper alternative in the PS3?

Why the hell would I do that? A friend lent me a PS3 and I enjoyed what I experienced, but I had to return the console.  I bought my own PS4 and already have the Nathan Drake Collection preordered (because of playing U3 on PS3). Id gladly buy other games like Resistance, Motorstorm, Warhawk and Infamous if they got remastered. You really think I should spend extra to buy a PS3 (£290) on top of my PS4 (£350) for a backcatalog? You want me to chose 720p30 with no DLC over 1080p60 with DLC? No thanks.

Doesnt apply to people who didnt and dont own a PS3... Which happens to be a lot of people. 10million plus, so "most gamers" did not end up owning both consoles last gen.

Guess we are in the same situation. I borrowed a PS3 a few weeks before my launch PS4 was due to arrive, just so I can play Uncharted trilogy and a few other exclusives (didn't really enjoy the others honestly).

I would really counter-argue that very few people ended having both last gen consoles. There might be a disproportionate amount of them commenting on forums, but in reality having two very similar consoles is wasteful on many levels.

This is not something I want to hear. Its ok to remaster games when they need to be remastered however that's not what's happening. We are being resold the same games as last gens as simply cross overs. TLOU-RM and GOW3 are nothing more then 1080p/60frame versions.

The sad part is instead of these devs focusing on newer ideas and sequels, they are wasting there time and resources delivering games most of the world have already played.

This is why BC is important. Even though many don't use it, it helps push devs into creating newer experiences.

Noooooppppeeee. So, so, so, so, so, so, much wrong with this. I don't care if other people have already pointed it out, you're getting it again.

1. GOW III R, sure that's largely just a 1080p/60fps port. But TLOU:R has better lighting, better textures, better AA, and uses the higher polygon models from the cutscenes during gameplay. The NDC will have the same upgrades as TLOU:R plus updated controls for Uncharted 1/2.

2. 40% of PS4 owners didn't own a PS3. Let me repeat that, 40% of PS4 owners, DID NOT OWN a PS3. Why would those people go buy a PS3 for only a couple of games when they can buy better versions of those games for less that will work on a console they already own?

3. The remasters aren't intended for people who have already played these games on the PS3. But, if you own a PS3 but didn't play one or some of these games, the present a chance to play better versions of them on newer hardware. For instance, I own a PS3 but never played the Uncharted games. So for me, the NDC is great because I can catch up on the series, with updated graphics and controls, and play the UC4 beta.

4. No they aren't. Very few remasters are actually done by the studio that made the origional game.

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

You do realise that they are hiring porting studios to do these?

None of the main teams are working on the remasters.

Don't you find coming to forums is like stepping into this weird alternate reality. Here we are enjoying the hell out of Rocket League, marvelling at the beauty of Journey, going crazy over the difficulty of Galek-Z, preloading Everyone's Gone To The Rapture and looking forward to Until Dawn, and there they are telling us we have nothing to play. It amuses the hell out of me how ridiculous these people sound.

My question is, what the hell are they playing?

This could be a chapter of the Twilight Zone, where Xbox fans mock Ps fans because they have no exclusives while they just have received their first exclusive of the year on the 8th month, a re-release of old games, and their last exclusive released on last november being a re-release of old games. Meanwhile, Nintendo fans mock Ps fans about them having no games, when their console have received what? Like 3 retail games on this entire year?

You mean PS Now instead of PS+? Because, I can't believe them nickel and diming those smart TV buyers out of that PS3 BC. Surely should be included instead of that PS Now.

Yes, that's what I mean. If Sony includes PS Now with PlayStation Plus, then remasters won't be necessary. True BC is better than both of them though.

But that isn't really true. THe level of effort put into remasters isn't one static piece. Some add content and serve as a "Complete" edition, where others go as far as include entirely new assets and re-doOSTs. While certain remasters likely wouldn't have a place if full BC existed, but it still wouldn't affect the majority of releases.

It's good if I never played the game before. more money is why they do this. this all started with the god of war series. that's when this remaster thing got big.

It's barking mad. I often sit here and think 'how do they have the cheak to say that?' It's like someone winning 1/10 games of pool and then approaching the guy who won 9/10 and saying 'in your face, loser.' That pool cue is only going one place but on a forum we only have words.

Maybe its just gamers disappointed by what they perceive to be a lackluster games lineup? Id love for there to be something that makes me use my PS4. Not everything has to be console wars, you know.

Also, LOL @ comparing PS4 remasters of PS3 games to something like MCC or RareReplay.
