What if the NX is just a traditional handheld?

i think it would make a lot more sense. not that i care either way but i think nintendo is going to burn what few bridges they have left if they abandon wiiU next year already.

It could just as well be that Nintendo's seen the WiiU ship sinking for a long time and has transitioned dev tools and resources to a new platform for at least the last year.

The fact we know close to nothing about what Retro Studios and EAD have in flight for 2016-2017 is really interesting.

WiiU 3rd party support could actually be lacking for this reason also : developers are already spending more time learning about the NX capabilities than bother with the WiiU at all.

Why bother learning NX capabilities? It's not as if they would actually use it to it's full potential.

How so, they will making one Mario Kart instead one Mario Kart for handheld and one for home console, similar like they managed Smash Bros, and they will have more time for other projects. If its a real hybrid device, there will be no need for different types of games (for home console and handheld).

Also console and handheld market (especially) are smaller than last gen.

Thinking about it, if 3DS had DS's lifetime (More than 6 years) and Wii U had Gamecube's lifetime (5 years), 3DS will still have a replacement earlier than Wii U.
