Forums - Gaming Discussion - Microsoft launches a kickstarter for Master Chief Collection in China

The only reason people had problem with it before was because it was Sony. Some of those think MS doing it is no big deal, now, using the excuse it's only for the CE, while others are trying to save face and act like they still hate it. The truth is, this is not a bad thing for the industry. It only becomes a bad thing when they start doing it to fund/gauge interest for sure things, like a new UC or Halo.

And why isn't a bad thing? First of all, NO ONE is forced to donate. You don't like the concept or the product they are trying to fund, then don't give them your money. Second, it allows gamers to get games made that otherwise wouldn't be. Without the kickstarter, there would be no Shenmue, or probably 1/3 of some of great indies we have, now. Third, people act like others are just giving up their money for nothing, which is BS, and they know. People can give them a measly couple of bucks to show support, or if they want to donate enough, they get things in return for their money, like art or music or even the game upon release. And finally, if the goal isn't met, everyone gets their money back. No harm, no foul.

Where is the Kickstarter page for Halo Collector's Edition?

So Microsoft wanted to have a chinese limited Halo game edition and needs gamers' interest, specific to chinese gamers if they want a chinese version.

That is why I hate kickstarters when the big companies are now using it, even if it just for interest or what. develop a game then see what the public's reaction is, not the other way around, they want the crowd to commit first before doing such a game. And they have tons of money.

Where is the Kickstarter page? Who is managing this crowdfund campaign?
