The core of the game was goddamn battle system. If you were going to make it into a stupid hack-n-slash ARPG for your button mashing audience, make FF16. If they retain turn based and is at least recognizable that's one thing, if they fuck it up and turn it into another KH, that's another I'll remain cautiously optimistic for it being turn based, full party control

I'm amused by how many here just automatically assume it'll be an ARPG because it'll have dramatic changes to the combat (not directed at you), just wait and see instead of ripping on SE before you know anything about the game other than it will be different from the original! (Also not directed at you, it just that your post was the perfect example of how to react imo)

I don't think anyone is assuming it will be one...it is more so people saying they hope it is not another one. Which I agree with.

I won't hate the game if it isn't, but I will be annoyed if they make it too different. It's just my second fave turn based FF, I have no nostalgia for it (played it 1-2yrs ago) but something about it was charming. I'm sure there's a way to adapt TB battles to the modern age. I only say ARPG because the recent history of SE is majority ARPG sorta gameplay. There is one thing I want changed, the summons, it'd be cool to have full control over summons like in FFX rather than have a cutscene play out and then damage be dealt.

There is one... It certainly seems so at least...

So people that played the original wouldn't notice much of a difference then? That sounds pretty good to me...

People that played the original would notice the remake is  a significantly easier game.

For real? I've actually been holding off on buying it because the Crimsons put me off it since I thought they would make it hard and frustrating.

Crimsons are difficult if you're just fighting them head on with a hand gun sure.  But if you've played the original you either

A) know which areas you're going to be backtracking through a lot and have burned any zombies nearby thereby negating the threat, or

B) by the time they've arisen you've got a shotgun.

I completely agree with you.  Some people are making a tantrum and there isn't even a confirmation from Square wether this game is going to be turn-based or not.  People should just wait and see before complaining about it.

If any FF7 fan say they didn't shudder at that thread title, I'm calling you a liar!!!

Fingers crossed.

Make a brand new player play or watch the original vs the remake.   The original would give them the initial impression that 70% of the game was about avoiding enemies like a Clock Tower type game, because there was no choice due to ammo limitations.  The remake would give them the initial impression that intelligent use of resources was the game instead.

I must say the bolded is really confusing me. I played through original Resident Evil so many times back in the day and you definitely had enough ammo to kill all the enemies easily. You just had to be accurate and effective. And I'm not talking about using knife on every enemy. It was crucial to collect every ammo the game gave you, it was practically mash X for every possible wall and detail.

All I'm saying, Resident Evil----->Remake, Final Fantasy VII----->Remake. Not Final Fantasy VII----->Advent Kingdom Hearts/FFXV/FFXIII. You need to have full control of every character in battle, imo it is crucial to the storytelling also.

I cannot imagine toilet-free life.

Kebabs have a unique attribute compared to other consumables. To unlock this effect you need to wolf down a big ass kebab really fast, like under 10 minutes or so and wait for the effect to kick in. If done correctly your movements should feel unbelievably heavy to the point where you literally cannot move at all.

Well, either that or a Jill sandwich

With a bit of practice, you'll also notice the Crimsons also have a slight gap in their attack that allows you to just get around them and either leave or just get more range on them.  Kind of like the first couple Nemesis fights.

Good to me. I'm currently playing it on PS2, and maaaan... It gets chaotic sometimes, enemies are able to fill their "time" gauge twice when you barely fill it once, they sometimes even attack two or three times with one gauge, it flows badly. Although I do enjoy the fact that it is basically turn based. Do it like Arc Rise Fantasia!!
