and what do you think got them in the situation they are in right now? I know they hate to spend money, but they need to do something.

I dont understand them. I bought a WiiU and now Im just going to say "but many other people didnt buy a WiiU, so Im okay with not getting games since the poor multi billion dollar company isnt doing quite as well as they had hoped"

Thats just sad...

I thought this was about new IPs and such?

The Wii U is getting a fine amount of content from Nintendo themselves (aside from the typical droughts, which unfortunately occur with every Nintendo console since the N64), it's just most of it is based on previous concepts. I'm fine with the upcoming lineup for the rest of the year and I have many games I plan to buy, and I would by lying if I said I didn't wish Nintendo would invest heavily into new, big budget IPs but that's just not the reality we're living in.

Honestly, the whole situation would be better if Nintendo could coerce third parties into developing for them, as they wouldn't have to rely solely on their own output. But again, it's just not the case right now.

Im getting the game that needs 6 months to translate into english after completion(Xenoblade Chronicles X) and Super Mario Maker.

Take a look at the top 20 games of the PS4 on metacritic. Most of them are remasters or cross-gen ports (8 remasters in the top 20 alone).

So why does the PS4 sell well if gamers don't like recycled content?

Because Sony has a much larger fanbase and the PS4 actually has a future.

That's not a reason at all.

Besides 3DS is getting the following third party games in the future:

Dragon Quest Jokers 3, Dragon Quest VIII, Dragon Quest XI, Yo-kai Watch 3, Monster Hunter X, Monster Hunter Stories, Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam (made by a third party studio), Bravely Second: End Layer

Pretty impressive for a 5 year old console.

Since when Dragon Quest is niche????You know that, Dragon quest Heroes alone, a spin off, sold more than 1 million in Asia alone! So again, you are very wrong if you think Dragon quest, a mainline game, is niche. And if sony can do it, nintendo can too.Its hard sure, but not impossible

1 Million in Asia and I am guessing 1.5-2m worldwide?  Hell even Killzone Shadowfall beat that in a year.  Look at Mario Kart's sales.

Its still going to release in the rest of the world, but the point is thats not niche.I mean, if every title that makes around that number or lower is niche, then 80% of the games are.And what makes a game niche is if its known or not, and DQ is very popular.Look, we have different oppinions about Nintendo potencial.Lets just agree to disagree, okay?

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

What? That half assed Zelda co-op game? That Metroid game that fans have made a petiton for Nintendo to stop making? The always "quality" Mario & Sonic At The Olympics? The stripped down Animal Crossing?

I would like Rhythm Heaven +, but I doubt it will get localized for a while...

Pokemon X/Y sold 13 million.  Grand Theft Auto V sold over 20 million the PS3 and 15 million on the 360.  I'm not saying that Pokemon numbers are terrible, but they're decreasing while numbers for games like Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty, and now Minecraft were increasing.  It's a cycle and eventually gamers will find another series.

X/Y are first party games. Why dont you make it fair and compare it to another first party game. Do you think it would have sold the same if it was available in the same ammount of platforms as those games you mentioned?

I'm not sure what you're trying to debate.  When I initially quoted you, only my first paragraph was in reference to your post; the rest was in response to the thread in general.  I probably should've clarified that in my post, so I apologize if you interpreted the entire post directed at you.

I'm worried about the list of games of the OP, I mean can't he come up with more games? I could have added at least 20+ game series to that list :P

So I was just talking about what would make the NX succeed, and besides a sub $200 price, I would say GAMES GAMES GAMES!  I mean look what they could do:

Year 1:

-Super Mario

-Metroid

-Paper Mario

-Donkey Kong

-Pikmin

Year 2:

-Yoshi

-Kirby

-Mario Kart

-Zelda

-Monster Hunter (Ik not 1st Party)

Year 3:

-Star Fox

-Mario Party

-F-Zero

-Battalion Wars

-Splatoon

^^^And this doesn't  even include NEW IP's - which we could expect at least a few.  If Nintendo doesn't have enough people/studios to do this then they just flat out need to hire more people.

Thing is you can't just magic games into existence! For any of those games to come out in the first year they would already be in production, so for year one we are getting close to it being what ever they've picked to make is has already been decided.
