Forums - Gaming Discussion - I am a Toys R Us Employee

Back from work today!

This week, we sold 1 360, and we're back down to 0 PS3s thus far.

There was a guy who came in today who seemed to decide on a 360 specifically because of Madden/NCAA frame rate issues. I discussed the strengths and weaknesses of each console, and he seemed to be wavering; when I mentioned that 360 runs NCAA/Madden at higher (perhaps double) the frame rate, he seemed to feel pretty confident that he'd be getting a 360.

I'm still getting a good deal of calls about Wiis on a daily basis.

We still have both of our giant "PS3 100 dollar price cut!" signs up.

PSP sales (both of hardware and software) has been lower for us again after a surge the last month.

Hve you recommended the site to any customers? And have they joined the forums?

No, I have not, in any capacity. I don't think that's appropriate, frankly. It requires people to care about game sales and so forth, which most people don't. They want to know the basics, and that's it.

I'm not sure it would be inappropriate. Perhaps awkward or off-topic, but in my experience walking around stores people like to talk about who's winning...who's losing. Perhaps Toys R Us is more geared toward the casual gamer or non gamer who isn't aware of the nuances in the industry. Many of your posts seem to suggest this to be true as they all ask you pretty obvious questions without much foreknowledge. By the way...I remember this thread from long ago...but only now realize that it was you who created it. Weird.

If they say that they will never sell a ps3.

Yeah it's not a good idea to press your own beliefs on customers. I know the employee who used to work at the gamestop near me tried to sell every single person who walks in a PS3, to the point that he would even tell clueless moms that it plays Wii games. I reported him, and he was fired, but it always disgusts me when I see employees misleading customers.

This is precisely the sort of thing I want to avoid.

Ok...I don't think I was suggesting anything about expressing your point of view about a given system. This site is IMO an objective look at console sales. All I was saying is that when I go to video game stores some people (customers) like to discuss gaming trends. I was just wondering if Bodhe ever ran into people who liked looking at the console war and suggested this site. That's all.

 the getting fired part?

 sorry, just being facetious

yeah, as a store employee you're not in any position to promote sites like vgchartz.  it's just asking for trouble.

the Wii is an epidemic.

What does IMO mean!!!! And bodhe hasnt recommended probably becuase nobody cares about the sales they just want to know what system has the best games, and bodhe here's a question how many people have you seen have the choice to buy a ps3 or 360, but bought a 360?
