Forums - Sony - Boycott PS4 Rise of the Tomb Raider Holiday 2016

If it turns out to be a good game Ill get it on PC. Really like having that choice. If its a really, really good game Ill probably get on PS4 too. I enjoy getting my trophies, son.

Now let's not be mean :)

I wont be buying unless as someone else already stated, that it'll be cheaper and contain lots of content (i.e complete edition)... I dont reward companies for screwing me over after I purchased their game twice on the PS platform.

It will fail pretty big this year, coming out on the same day as FO which looks like MS are advertising as well...  I expect lots of bundling though so that may help the alot.

I'm pretty sure they needed the money from MS, but that's not my problem as a consumer. :)

Making an indie game : Dead of Day!

Yeah boycott it! Prove that there's no audience for Tomb Raider on PS4 so it'll be a true Xbox exclusive next time!

I'm always in two mind about things like this. On one hand I instinctively want to agree and do my bit to punish greedy publishers, but on the other hand I realise that if everyone followed suit the franchise would be dead on the platform I support. Do we punish SE or prove they made the wrong move by showing them it's better to release on the PS4? Is the future more important than the present in terms of support? I haven't got the answer to that ... but I'm going with my gut I think.

I say just buy it if you think its worth it. I though that TR 2013 was an ok game, nothing special and lots of it seemed like a direct uncharted rip tbh. I got it with PS+ and to me Rise of the tomb raider probably won't be worth full price, so i'll wait until it's cheap enough for me to buy it (like £15) no matter how long that takes.

There are only 2 games I plan to get Day 1 this year and Rise Of The Tomb Raider is one of them.

the salt is real
if you want to and like the game, buy it
simple as that

schould xb1 owner boycott ff7 remake?

Oh gamers and their "causes".

Bloody buy the game if you think it looks good, or don't if you don't. That should be the ONLY factor in your decision to purchase.

The PS4 version of TR hardly needs a boycott; it has enough going against it as is based upon the titles being released within the same quarter.

Granted, Fallout, Battlefront and Black Ops are different genres that cater to different tastes in games (all of which are larger consumer niches), AAA games, as measured in mass sales, still compete with anything being released within the same time frame.

On the PS4, TR's biggest competition in a more apples to apples comparison will be Uncharted 4. Even with 6 months of sales ahead of it, Uncharted will still be more appealing than TR to the PS4 consumer base, including those who buy a PS4 for the 2016 holiday season.

Personally, I'll probably hold off on TR until well after it debuts on the PS4, and I don't see myself buying it on Steam either until it is one of Steam's "can't resist" sales. At any rate, I won't be paying $60 for it regardless of platform.

I imagine the PS4 version will get some sort of special edition version with much of the existing DLC or anything to improve the perceived worth of what will be a late release; I will be surprised if it's given a $60 MSRP regardless.

If I were a XBO player, there's a higher chance that I would but it on release day for $60, but I'm not and I no longer see an XBO anywhere in my future. It's not even an issue of price anymore; the XBO is a platform that will only have a few exclusives I can't play anywhere else.

This is sort of funny, and I like it.  I don't mind a some ribbing considering that this argument is over a video game.  I don't take it personally.

However, the moderators do have some baby thin skin though.  They'll moderate over the smallest things.  I agree that people should be moderated for real personal attacks.  But people get offended and taking thing personally by jokes and degrading comments against some inanimate plastic consoles and games.  Sort of sad.
