What about if I never stopped liking and trusting them and think in the last few years they have been better than ever?

Then you live in a twisted little world. SEGA has been sub par all through 7th gen.

The only Sega game I've bought was Valkyria Chronicles and that game was amazing. I really hope Sega is actually dedicated to improving themselves because if they continually make games as high quality as Valkyria Chronicles, that would be great.

You'd get my love and trust if you brought Persona 5 to Europe.

Then stop focusing on mobile and make good games.

What about making some good games again?

They will have to make great games again then.

If Sega makes a good entirely 3D pure Sonic game using the boost formula for 8th gen systems, it would certainly help their reputation. If they're really committed to this, they'll give fans what they want in time for the 25 anniversary of their beloved IP.

NOOOOOOOO. No boost. Sonic is about earned momentum through skillful platforming. Breaking the sound barrier in Sonic Advance 2 and 3 was perfectly Sonic. The stupid boost button in the 7th gen Sonic games need to die, along with the homing attack that kills momentum and cheapens platforming.

If Sega wants to make a good 3D Sonic game, they need to first come to terms with the idea that every 3D Sonic was bad. All of them. If they keep going on thinking "well we can finally make a good Sonic if we make it more like Adventures/Generations/Lost World," their games will always be doomed to suck.

Sega needs to analyse the best games in their franchise, the actual good ones, and figure out the core fundementals of what made those games great. Sonic Advance 2 is by far the best Sonic, with Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic CD for a close second. Take those three, figure out why they worked, make bullet points, and put those ideas in a 3D space.

I'm still waiting for them to resurrect/continue their beloved franchises (Sakura Taisen, Panzer Dragoon, Skies of Arcadia, Valkyria Chronicles - just to name a few), localize their games (Yakuza 0, Phantasy Star 2) and remaster some of their titles (Shenmue 1 & 2).
