He's mixing up "published by Sony" and "available on PSN"...

that's an oxymoron, as "indie" means independend from a big publisher, so a game that's supported by a big publisher is the opposite of "indie" |
Ok, you're right, I didn't word it correctly. It's a game from an independent (small) studio published by Sony under a three games contract. Sony also owns the IP(s) but the development of the games has been independent. It even won some Indie games awards.
According to some definitions (like the ones in Wikipedia) that makes Journey an indie game. From other point of views it isn't because of the large publisher. But it isn't like Batman were WB has its say and I believe was actually paying Rocksteady. Sony has just got the exclusive publishing rights.
Then to be honest I don't really care much, the discussion about its indie status is useless. The game is excellent and that is what really matters. It's only a couple of hours long but those are two beautiful hours that stick in the memory. It's like living in a dream.
Oh, and Flower IMO is even better!! ^_^
| naruball said: Gotta love the word "overrated". It's like "I don't like this game so everyone else MUST be wrong". Nope. just a game that plenty of people loved. Even if you didn't like it at all, it doesn't make it overrated. And all these arguments about how everyone "loves" it because it's indie or exclusive are beyond silly. Flower was an exclusive and so was The Unfinished Swan. I thought Flower was great, The Unfinished Swan kind of boring and Journey a masterpiece. But just because I didn't like The Unfinished Swan as much as reviewers did, it doesn't somehow mean that everyone else is wrong. |
Isn't someone saying something is "overrated" subjective? I think Journey is overrated, my opinion, which is subjective. I don't think "everyone" else is wrong, I just didn't care for the game personally thus making the game overrated imo.

What? That is outragous! I was expecting to pay for games i already own, someone said Sony would make me!
“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Not exactly. By saying it's overrated, you're not simply expressing an opinion about the game, but about other people's opinion about the game. You're saying it doesn't deserve its praise, thus arguing that your opinion is better than others'.

Someone saying something doesn't deserve praise = their opinion is better than someone elses? Ok then.

Glad you finally saw the light.
