This whole business about total gross is pointless due to inflation. The only true measure of a movies success is tickets SOLD. Not gross income.

Here is the top 10 domestic (US) records

1 Gone with the Wind
2 Star Wars
3 The Sound of Music
4 E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial
5 Titanic
6 The Ten Commandments
7 Jaws
8 Doctor Zhivago
9 The Exorcist W
10 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Dis.

inflation is only a way to compare film releases from different eras. You dont take console sales from different gens and adjust for inflation, or books, or cars, or really anything to be honest. I find it silly films are only put up against this silly measure.

We don't compare income for games though. We compare units sold... which spans generations. When people celebrate gross for movies, it's completely fictitious. In order to truly be "number 1", you have to adjust for inflation.

Nobody tracks the ticket counts for movies thats the issue. You track the money which is what you do in just about every sector of buisness. You could make the counter arguement with inflation that their was much fewer blockbusters or films in general in those eras how about we adjust them and put them in todays market? The only barometer we have for films is their revenue. Again you dont adjust anything else for inflation only films and weathiest people ever.

The easy answer is Specter but I want to say Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation for the gamble.

Of course ticket sales are being tracked. Only becaue boxoffice doesnt do it doesnt mean the information doesnt exist. In germany, box office success is tracked as tickets sold.

OT: Star Wars for sure, maybe also Bond.

I am actually surprised about the 3 that made it this year already, especially Furious 7.

Star Wars, Spectre, next Avengers, but there will probably be some surprise like Frozen too. Don't think Inside Out will be that surprise but you never know.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I have never heard a ticket count on any movie that is out there (excluding small films in small theatrical releases).
