We don't compare income for games though. We compare units sold... which spans generations. When people celebrate gross for movies, it's completely fictitious. In order to truly be "number 1", you have to adjust for inflation. 

Nobody tracks the ticket counts for movies thats the issue. You track the money which is what you do in just about every sector of buisness. You could make the counter arguement with inflation that their was much fewer blockbusters or films in general in those eras how about we adjust them and put them in todays market? The only barometer we have for films is their revenue. Again you dont adjust anything else for inflation only films and weathiest people ever.

Of course ticket sales are being tracked. Only becaue boxoffice doesnt do it doesnt mean the information doesnt exist. In germany, box office success is tracked as tickets sold.

I have never heard a ticket count on any movie that is out there (excluding small films in small theatrical releases).
