I loved his Nintendo Directs, and I hope Nintendo continues that tradition - even though it won't be the same without Iwata himself.
He had a humble feeling to him that I, and no doubt many others, really found appealing, even cozy.
I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!
Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

The bananas were awesome. It was great to see it referenced with the puppets this year.

Yes. In part because they are fun and informal, but also because he always seemed so genuine. Like he was really happy he got to announce a new game to us. And of course ''Please understand'' became a thing, and could be frustrating, but I did alway feel as if he really was disapointed that he had to let us down.

I liked the idea Nintendo Directs. Announcements didn't need to come once or twice a year. Especially loved when Iwata acknowledged non specific action figure too funny.
Without Iwata Nintendo might have went the way of sega. I loved the Wii and ds the moment they were announced. His idea that gaming should be simple and fun created a whole new gaming audience and reinvigorated the whole gaming community with new ways to play. I Remember the first time I sat my girl, who didn't like how often I played video games, in front of a wii. Years later now she owns a Wiiu and a 3ds and she's obsessed with splatoon. Iwata was needed in the gaming world and he will be missed.
As a CEO, his Nintendo Directs. They are an awesome way to show us games, with tons of humor. As a programmer, I will always remember Earthbound as one of the best JRPGs I've ever played. And, acting as a journalist, his "Iwata Asks" were a fantastic way to learn things about game design. And, of course, his charm. The E3 battle with Reggie, the Luigi hat moment, the banana moment... I will miss him.
My favorite thing about Mr. Iwata was his commitment to the people at Nintendo. They could have let a lot of people go, but instead they continued to walk their own path, protect their employees and make efforts at innovation that other companies rarely risk and to take responsibility for both the successes and misfires. He had a great presence and charisma and the way Nintendo presents itself with humor and class is directly attributed to him. Great job Mr. Iwata. RIP.
That he took a paycut rather than layoff staff, and pledged not to get back his wages until the 3DS situation improved. You can say you're sorry all you want, because that's free. When you start giving up money, that's how the world knows you're not screwing around.
I like how he did what he thought would benefit the company and defended the core values of gaming. Even though he did conform to modern culture a little by publishing games like Bayonetta 2, Nintendo still has the same great image it did in 2002, when he assumed office.

RIP Iwata 12/6/1959-7/11/2015
Thanks for all the great memories!
