Forums - Gaming - Where did this stupid "trend" come from? Game trailer reaction videos?

Probably a result of those "react" videos by the FineBros. They get a bunch of kids, teens, old people, etc, to react to things like games, movies, music videos, tech, etc.

Actually can be quite entertaining, particularly the "elders" reacting to videogames and the like.

Yeah, I love the React channel.  And I've watched plenty of reaction vids.  TLOU, FFVIIR, Shenmue 3, etc... I love seeing how much games have impacted peoples lives.  It's great :D

Some reaction vids are really popular so others do the same to get attention

I suspect it evolved out of live recordings for events like E3, where the appeal was that both the viewer and guy reacting are experiencing these new things for the first time together. For single-trailer reactions, I occasionally enjoy seeing the joy on their faces. Some of the Smash Bros character reveals brought amazing reactions.

Exposure through various social media and internet discussion boards.

It emulates the feel of watching a trailer for the first time with a friend, or showing a friend a trailer for something you know they are a die hard fan of. In that they seem to have more value than those stupid advertisements for scary movies / games with randos screaming and shitting their pants.

This guy caused quite a stir on neoGAF after the video to his reaction to winning an Xbox One was uploaded :P

LOL

I have found most of the Internet is garbage. Plain and simple.

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

It's just spilled over from the rest of Youtube. People want super-easy super-quick videos they can make at all times, so they just "react" to everything. I try to avoid that sort of thing on my channel unless the thing could actually use a reaction, and even then it's not a live one--just my impressions afterward.

It's basically fast-food-videos. And yes, they're just as bad. :/
There are still good videos out there though, focus on them instead!

has been going for a time, people on twitch watch videos/trailers/conferences together. If it is not popular it would be dead though, let people live, some watch those videos, others spend sad emotional discussions on forums about video game hardware =p.
