OMG!!!! OMG!!!! OMG!!!! that is all, move along now!

Superman is a crap character. DC should phase him out of existence if it wants a shot to be like Marvel.

In fact, they don't need anything else than Batman and... whatever manages to fit in the same world.

Judging by what I just saw it appears Lex Luthor sort of takes Superman under his wing (the scene where he's bowing to him) and gives him command of the Super task force we see (the guys with the symbol on their shoulders) basically putting him to work for Lexcorp or the US's benefit and tricking Supes into thinking that's the right thing to do. Lex sends him to take down the vigilante in Gotham as he doesn't like an unknown quantity like that. Batman has already seen the destruction and doesn't trust the govt./Lexcorp so he decides to build a super suit to fight the alien and his men. The only thing I can't figure out is how Wonder Woman figures into this.

I am Iron Man

People should go to YouTube and check out the "World's Finest" episode of the Superman cartoon (hopefully is there) to see a faithful Batman/Superman first encounter. Maybe it will relieve some doubts.

It is a good first encounter, not the best, not the worst, but once again the problem with this movie is that they are making the fight the central part of the plot, and that is usually a minor part, the writer does not understand the character and he alredy prove it in MoS

Well Chris Terio (writer of Argo) was brought in to rewrite Goyer's original script, who wrote Man of Steel. I have much more faith in him than Goyer and from the trailer it looks like Lex is manipulating Superman and Batman to fight each other. Also, it's probably much easier and smarter to market Batman vs Superman as opposed to Lex being the true villain.

Well, in order to make this even remotely believable as a plot, they have to give Batman some kind of chance (absurd).  Even General Zod DITCHED his (superior than Earth metal) armor, in their final fight.  Unless Batman gets the drop on Superman (no chance), the believability of this story line lasting anything longer than the brief initial moment of aggression is idiotic.

Agreed with you. I think making the movie around that stupid fight is dumb as hell, make it a small skirmish like they did on the avengers or in Justice League: War, yes a lot of people want to see these 2 characters fight, but there is nothing at stake here, they will not kill each other, they will not even injure each other, and at the end they will be friends. They are both the good guys, Batman is smarter than to pick up a fight with someone who is helping people around the world, Superman (at least the one from the comics) is always trying to end things without a fight and will not battle just to see who is stronger.

Building a movie about a gritty comic of the 80's that is not part of the continuity does not make sense at all, and even in that comic the central part of the plot in NOT the stupid fight, there is another reason why they have to battle and even in that one Superman is trying to avoid it. Goyer is great writting many DC characters like Batman and Constantine, but he has no clue on how to handle Superman, he treats him like a 1 dimensional alien without any conection with his family or the world, that is almost stupid and has no real depth, he almost did not had any lines in MOS and it looks like is the same on this movie. Skipping it.

Just reading through the comments. I don't know how the film will play out but it is called "Dawn of Justice".  The two may have a little pissing match where Batman shows he's smarter and Superman shows he's more powerful but in the end, as always, it's going to end with mutual respect and likely the foundation of forming a team.

We get caught up in an will beat who but i doubt Its going to go that way.  This isn't Rocky.  It's two iconic  eroes who ( usually) don't kill.  Let's just enjoy the story.

-also, I'm not actually sure I'm responding to you!! I just hit " quote " and went to town!

Yeah, this is clearly setting up for a Justice League movie (or trilogy, more likely)

I hope he gets the character better, but from the trailers I really doubt it. Goyer is a good Batman (and some other dark characters) writer, but he is a very poor superman writer, they really need to show the contrast the light vs darkness thing they mention in the trailer, it needs to show, but currently I see the dark vs darker heroe only, and is depressing as hell, very low expectations for this movie.

I think the exact opposite.  Lex stirs up the Senator (he tells her Supes is dangerous) and Batman to go after Supes, no doubt using the Supes-worshipping zealots to "prove" he's a threat.  All the dialogue in the trailer from Batman and Alfred point to Batman being the aggressor, not Superman.  Lex even makes a reference to Superman and his forces as the "red capes," a play on redcoats, implying he is "warning" Bruce and the gov about the "dangerous" Superman.  As for that one scene with Lex, he does not at all look like he is friends with Lex; he looks super pissed.  We see a scene with kryptonite, he is likely feeling the effects of that.  As for Wonder Woman, I'm not sure either.

Batman is in the right here. We can't have superhumans who can level the planet be allowed to roam freely, especially one that has caused so much damage and killed so many people.

I see it completely opposite as Batman is in the wrong.  I just see Batman as some jealous snob.  Superman did what he could to save the world and if he didn't the world would've been destroyed by Zod.  If the event of Man of Steel happened in real life, how could anybody be mad at the superhuman that saved the world of an alien invasion?  Better to lose some casualties than to be extinct.  Because of this Superman deserves to be able to roam free as he pleases.

- Not feeling Lex Luthor
- Jeremy Irons is too cool to be Alfred
- Batman looks like a juiced up junky in his costume

Batman being jealous? Sorry but nothing points to that being the case. From his perspective, there's a superhuman who wrecked a huge city and killed people he was close to.

Superman might have saved Earth from an alien invasion but that doesn't mean we should live on this Earth by his grace. What happens when he gets angry? Last time that happened, he co-destroyed half of Metropolis.

As for your smaller points:

- Agree

- Alfred is a very cool character.

- Well, Batman is supposed to be massive.

As far as the people know, he didn't save the kids, or do anything on the oil rig. Lois knows he saves her, but noone else does. Zod wouldn't have been there if not for Superman, so the public is not going to give him a whole lot of credit for.

If Superman hadn't been there, millions more people would be alive, even accounting for the few people he saved. So I get the hatred. The problem was it's stupid to make a Superman movie where everyone hates Superman.

While I agree with you, is not a Superman movie, is a prequel for Justice League

How can you have a prequel without have the movie that it is a prequel to be out?
