Yeah I think it'd be great if it did over 1 million FW in Japan.

I don't know..are the preorders still at about 50,000 for the PS4 US version? I think they barely moved even after Type 0 came out selling over 500,000. That's kind of worrying if so.
KH3 was double that despite how little has been shown of it till now.

The pre-order chart is very unreliable.
critical acclaim has become way more important this gen.... the order and bloodborne are an example of that.... watch dogs having no legs.... AC UNITY having no legs, but bloodborne a niche ip running past a million copies sold are all prime examples.....
if FF XV rates over 85, I expect the game to sell 5 million month one, it is one of the most anticipated games in a generation......

Pretty sure majority of people who would pre-order it have decided to actually wait after "FF versus XIII".
I'mma pre-order it (hopefully a good collector's set) when they actually announce the release date. |
It's possible they could be waiting on a release date. But I think that regardless if the ones that are waiting do come out in droves to preorder the game there's an issue of trust with SE right now. I know it is for me.
This is going to be the first mainline FF game I'm not preordering or maybe not even buying at full price.
It's not that I don't think this game is going to be good. I think this game at the very least will be great, but then again I thought FFXIII was at the very least good and I don't intend to play that game ever again.
There's just this level of expectation that comes with the FF name brand we all hope can come along and deliver, and we all hope it can deliver on certain critieria the series has faltered with for years now such as good characters and a memorable, enjoyable story.
I don't trust the writing of the characters presented yet so I'm not preordering. I'm also not sure of the gameplay yet; still not convinced if the AI of your party members will be well thought out. I was blown away by the summon though, so in terms of cool attacks the game has sold me. I'm glad we will feel powerful in a FF game again.

I might be a bit pessimistic, but I think it will only barely do it.
