20 millions? If this is true, and the NX is a WiiU replacement, I don't think Nintedo has learned anything from its most recent problems. But I might be wrong and they might have a plan to destroy the sale charts.

3DS launched Feb/March 2011 and by March 31, 2012 had shipped over 15 million

Wii U launched Nov/Dec 2012 and by December 31, 2013 had shipped over 5 million

I don't see how either of these things are unbelievable

I think Nintendo can do their own version, of a handheld -> home console, thats not 350$+.
And its needs to be able to run the same games as the handheld... the easiest way is to actually allow it to do so.
That means game cartridges are back, imo.

What? It's going to be nothing like the Vita TV, dude. It's not going to be a console version of a handheld. It's doing to be a console and a handheld with games that scale to both.

It doesn't mean carts are back. That's moving backwards. It means the handheld will be all digital. That's moving forwards.

The rumor doesn't allude to two skews.

Those shipments were based off the backs of Nintendo's two most massively successful systems in the company's history.

That's how neither of those things are believable.

Does that really matter if its just cheap enough?

If say nintendo aims for a 200$ console that lasts 4-5years... isnt that fine? its half price of what a PS4 launched for.

Unless Nintendo has some new magical sex toy controller there's no way they're hitting 20 million with just a vanilla console + controller gimmick, their brand is far too weak in the console arena for that.

Also XBox 360 (unveiled May 2005), PS4 (unveiled March 2013), XBox One (unveiled May 2013), Nintendo DS (revealed May 2004), and Nintendo 3DS were all released several months after their unveilings.

So really it was just Nintendo's consoles that weren't following the industry standard. No one wants to see something exciting and then be told they can't buy it for 18 months.

Estimates are in line. I believe 1 year statement means the first full year (12 months). Put 14-15M on the handheld part and 5-6M for the homeconsole. Nothing impossible.
