Forums - Gaming Discussion - Reggie was right about the 5 to 6 years comment

Can't believe I wasted my "potato chip eating time" on this thread.

I am a Nintendo fanatic.

Around the Network

"In contrast, people have been heralding the PS4 the winner of this e3. But others have brought up the point that some of the biggest announcements were years away from being released, and raised a doubt as to the PS4's unanimous win, and thus the honesty of people online (if not to raise question of the intelligence of people online, in general)"

this is my favorite part of your very badly written argument. specially the bolded part where you doubt the intelligence of pretty much everyone who thought Sony "won" this years E3. It seems here we have a simple case of yet another member on this site being salty.

whats interesting to see how many people from non-sony fanbases try to dismerit Sony's E3 and claim they havent won by taking cheap shots at them, instead of showing the merits of their preffered companies E3 and explaining why they won. actually, thats what nintendo and reggie are doing as well.

No company willingly announces a game 5-6 years before launch, everyone with a brain should understand that, so I'm assuming that Reggie understands it as well.

That out of the way it should be clear that the comment isn't to be taken literally but instead interpreted as:

Nintendo only announces games when they are sure they will make their launch and that that launch is close.

This is further underlined by the rest of his comment:

We also know that the best way to launch a game like that is to surprise and delight them, to give them a launch date, in an environment like this let them play it...

And saying that Nintendo does that is grade-A bullshit, Nintendo has announced several games very early just to build hype and they've delayed tons of games this gen as well.

Also who in his right mind thinks that the FF VII Remake is 5-6 years from launch?

If anything he was probably being sarcastic, knowing Zelda U has at least a 5 year wait now from when it was unveiled .

Hey bub. Knock it off.

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

Knock what off? Telling the truth? is that frowned upon in this establishment?

Nintendo, today, does not reveal games until they are at most 2 years away from release. This is a fact. I don't want to talk opinions, I want to talk facts.

As for Zelda U, until you show me a video of it before e3 2014, I don't want to talk about it.

No it is not a fact, it is a blatant lie. Of course you don't because you are wrong. OH and btw it was unveiled in at least e3 2012. Here's the tech demo from e3 2012. Here's the video of the demo. Uploaded in 2012 https://youtu.be/u_fyOkrteqM here's an article from 2012 boasting about it http://wiiudaily.com/2012/09/wii-u-zelda-game-coming-2014/. That's more than 2 years. That's a fact. Quit being dishonest, and at least try to fact check before you make such a claim. Turns out it wasn't 2014 or 2013 but at least 2012.. Go figure.

The thing is, about that article, it all refers to a source. Nintendo never officially announced they were working on Zelda U until 2013, and then they revealed official footage in 2014, with a set launch date in 2015, before they delayed it. The article itself also states "“The Wii U Zelda stuff you saw at E3 2011 was just a tech demo, nothing else. I’ve seen none of that in the real game. The tech demo was even made by an entirely different team with an older engine”. Though whether that is true or not is unsure, since it is a source.

It was unveiled in 2011 given a release date of 2014 in 2012 from Nintendo, the source in the article and was announced again in 2013. It doesn't change the fact that padib was lying when he said "Nintendo, today, does not reveal games until they are at most 2 years away from release. This is a fact. I don't want to talk opinions, I want to talk facts." It was revealed in 2011. a good 5 years before the 2016/likely 2017 release date. Even if you go by the third announcement in 2013 it still makes his claim a flat out lie.

You know better than to make threads like this padib. The OT is incredibly baity, and implying that anyone who believes Sony won E3 (thus disagrees with your stance) is unintelligent is completely unacceptable.

Locking.
