Even though he says stupid things, I still like him.

I like him too, I mean he is the effing Reginator! But he's not a good president let alone a business man and he can't adapt to a changing environment. I don't think he should leave Nintendo if he doesn't want to, but rather the role he currently owns should be handled by someone who can move forward better

Reggie convinced me to buy a 3DS when he talked about A Link Between Worlds during a Nintendo Direct. So he's not awful.

I am a Nintendo fanatic.

I find this part very interesting:

In May 1998, Howard Lincoln said“What’s happened is that those [Nintendo] gamers are now adults, and from their point of view, playing videogames makes perfectly good sense. It’s not something new, it’s something that they’ve done, and it is a viable form of entertainment. Those people are gravitating toward video games. And we have to supply games for them. So, we’re recognizing that we can’t just do a certain genre of games, we have to do [all] kind of games.

I wish nintendo had taken his words to heart then maybe I would still be playing on nintendo systems but as my favorite genre is FPS I just couldnt take it. But yeah reggie is nothing compared to lincoln and arakawa

Then one should ask what is he doing at nintendo, if nothing useful. SCEA pretty much controls Playstation America, if not the entire SCEI division in some respects. Sony has devs in every region, and reggie should be held responsible for a lack of nintendo first party developers in America.

It's clear you are either ignorant or have  a naive understanding on the business structure of Nintendo. No point in discussing this further, you are clearly hell bent on your own agenda.

Well I don't know what agenda is here to sell but here this:

If Nintendo Japan had control over everything to the point where Reggie's duties are minor - let's say Nintendo japan made a bad decision that essentially broke Nintendo America, now Reggie is the president of NoA and therefore the wider apparent responsibility will fall on him.

If you're the president of an organisation within a company but have little to no control, do you really want to be that president and ultimately get the blame for when something goes wrong?

It doesn't matter what the business structure of Nintendo is, or how Nintendo operate, Reggie's signature is on everything that comes out of NoA, and he will therefore get the blame while he is still there.

He's more of a personality than a business man which I why it's hard to dislike him for him, but easy to dislike his business sense

But it seems like all of Nintendo's executives have that problem not just Reggie.

You - on your own accord - are blaming Reggie without a sound undestanding of how things work at Nintendo.  Sure you can get angry about what he says in an interview and the poor marketing, that's on him.

But the other things you are pitting the blame on him is on the parent company and not reggie. It's not hard to understand

Well I agree with that, but Reggie's doing serious damage on a large scale to nintendo fans (saying Iwata didn't apologise) and developers (VR isn't fun or social even though I haven't played it recently)

I think Iwata could do better if his A-team were better

Well to me it seemed I quoted four points which were words that came out of Reggie's mouth, one where he insulted Nintendo fans (Iwata didn't apologise) one where he insulted developers (your VR content isn't fun even though I didn't play it recently) insulted competition needlessly (they have content but no exclusives) and falsely shared info (we don't announce games 5/6 years in advance like others)

The only other thing I've mentioned is Nintendos ad policy which sorry, I think Reggie should have a fucking say in.

Added into Nintendos dwindling reputation due to sales etc. Which I never blamed reggie for, it doesn't spell a good sentence for the leadership at Nintendo, one of whom is Reggie who is the focus of this thread.
